Mr Renzi's latest ad speaks of special interests, while lamenting the legislature's failure to deliver. Education spending is mentioned specifically. The problem is not that they have failed to deliver. The problem is they have delivered far beyond the ability of the taxpayer to continue to pay. Mr Renzi strikes me as a strong candidate, but even he cannot seem to muster the will to admit we are spending enough on education. No one has the political courage to say this, but it is a problem that must be confronted. We are out of money. Too many young people are leaving. We cannot continue to increase taxes. ALL areas of spending need to be limited, no matter how fashionable or politically correct.
