Skelos Travels Upstate
Newly minted Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos is traveling New York recently visiting Buffalo and Rochester.
Skelos made the following comments in various venues;
“We work together as a unified body, understanding that each region of the state has their unique needs and that each region of the state has to be treated fairly. And I think that has been the success over the years of our conference.”
“When you start in Buffalo and go to Montauk, the No. 1 issue in this state is property taxes”
When asked why residents here should believe that upstate will be a priority, he had the numbers ready to emphasize upstate’s importance to him and his 32-member Republican conference: “There are 20 members from upstate New York”
He wants to work with Paterson on his plan to cap the growth of property taxes and welcomes a special session so lawmakers can act this summer.
Erie County Executive Chris Collins;
“We have some important elections coming up,” Collins said in introducing Skelos at a news conference after their meeting. “We are all going to work very hard to make sure that Western New York is well represented in the Senate, and that our issues, which in many cases are different from other parts of the state, are heard and supported.”
The north country would welcome a visit from Skelos just as much as any other dignitary and he should be warmly welcomed in the same way Paterson was received on his first visit. The north country benefits with visits of people such as Paterson or Skelos who have much to say about the direction of New York State, they should always be welcomed regardless of party affiliation.
The question remains; where is Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver or Senate Minority Leader Malcolm Smith, to recent memory neither have ever been here, how can they claim they understand Northern New York?

- What leadership has a better understanding of north country issues, the leaders drive the conference agenda and allow legislation to be voted on or not

- What representative can best help constituents navigate New York State government and its agencies to their benefit
Indy Bloomberg: Not a Fan...
Independent minded Mayor of New York City is a not fan of single party rule in Albany.

Addie Jenne Russell: Liberal Agenda
Addie Jenne Russell, candidate for Assembly in the 118th District running against Bobby Cantwell interviews with Mayor Jeff Graham on the Hotline. Addie appears very calm, relaxed and also very resolute in her views and those views are very liberal stances on social and fiscal issues and below are a couple of short clips of the interview.
There will be a clear difference in candidates on social and fiscal issues this fall, as a matter of fact Addie is on an oasis when compared to all the candidates on her social views, even Aubertine, a conservative democrat is not even this far left of center.
The first clip here Addie claims the gas sales tax cap by the Jefferson County Legislature eliminating sales tax above $2.00 a gallon is not working. Addie supported the sales tax cap and now appears to have a change of position on this issue, therefore the conclusion is she favors the eliminating the gas tax cap which will raise taxes on gasoline.
The next clip of the interview Addie lays out her liberal agenda. Her candid responses seem to take the Hizzoner by surprise as he even proclaims "'cuz you just made news."
Clearly there are differences in these two candidates for the 118th Assembly in their social agenda, so far Cantwell appears conservative while Addie Jenne Russell is quite liberal in her positions. If you are voting on social issues this race will be an easy decision depending upon your positions.

This is sure to twist and turn Ted Ford and all the other liberal friends of P IV.Rush Limbaugh who is the main irritant to people on the left has signed a new megadeal contract;

Republican state Senate candidate in the 37th district and Mayor of Larchmont, Liz Feld is up on TV today with the first commercial of her campaign against incumbent Democrat Sen. Suzi Oppenheimer. It is a pretty good commercial, full of energy and life! A New Generation!
Here is another Republican's commercial Senator Serf Maltese of Queens, there is quite a difference in the two from a production quality standpoint.
Dave Renzi should hire Feld's production outfit, he has the same full of life, energy and new generation approach and with his youthful family he represents that new generation. This race should not be the same old tired politics "one of us" style campaigns, his family represents the mom and dad working hard everyday to raise a family.

Much of the increase in support for energy exploration has come among groups that previously viewed this as a less important priority than energy conservation - young people, liberals, independents, Democrats, women and people who have attended college.
"The public's changing energy priorities are most evident in the growing percentage that views increased energy exploration - including mining and drilling, as well as the construction of new power plants - as a more important priority for energy policy than increased conservation and regulation. Nearly half (47%) now rates energy exploration as the more important priority, up from 35% in February. The proportion saying it is more important to increase energy conservation and regulation has declined by 10 points (from 55% to 45%)."
Wesley Clark: Stupidity and Hypocrisy
Wesley Clark, retired General who obviously believed that qualified him to run for President of the United States, appeared on CBS Face the Nation this past weekend and became critical of McCain's wartime service. Clark used it to question McCain's qualifications as a Commander in Chief, not thinking far enough ahead to ask himself why he thought he was qualified or what qualified Barack Obama.
