Darrel Aubertine accepted $5,000.00 from Tom Golisano and his PAC, Responsible NY, which is under investigation in western New York for possible election violations.
Responsible NY is required by law to remain independent of candidates and have no coordinated effort with campaigns and when a check was discovered that contained the word "consulting" on the memo line the Board of Elections launched an investigation.
Aubertine also received $7,500 from minority leader Malcolm Smith and $210,000 income from State committee. See Aubertine filing here.
Interesting to note Mr. Aubertine does most of his office supply shopping out of the area instead of using local vendors who employ local people, while Mr. Renzi buys local according to his filing.
Candidates that are up by the margins reported for Aubertine usually contribute to other candidates around the state.
