Governor to Visit

A hospital official today said that the Governor has been invited and possibly will attend the groundbreaking of the major construction project at Samaritan Medical Center for their new facilities. The 1:30 PM visit to the hospital is likely to be combined with the 11:00 AM Fort Drum deployment scheduled the same day.

The North Country Welcomes Governor Paterson and certainly hopes he takes ample time while visiting to speak with local people and gain an important perspective for rural life in upstate New York State. Our state is very diverse, New York City and even Albany are quite different from Northern New York. It is important, as the Governor makes critical decisions regarding our work and lives, that he has a full understanding of each and every part of New York. To know New York inside and out and every corner of the state would be to represent it well.

The North Country and Fort Drum community should greet the Governor with opens arms.

LATER ADD:
Groundbreaking is scheduled for Friday, April 25th.

The original post fails to mention what day this is supposed to happen.

Can you give us a clue?

To clarify the original post, Governor Paterson has been invited to attend the Samaritan Groundbreaking Ceremony on Friday, April 25th at 1:30 p.m. To date, we have not yet received word whether he will or will not attend. We will continue to work with his office to welcome him to NNY.

Anon #2,

You are entitled to an opinion, thank you and keep reading.

Krista,
Thank you, apology for the 1:00, that was the information received.

Also, with regard to the Governor's attendance, hence, the word "possibly".

Congratulations and Good Luck with the project, the community is proud of the asset.

What is the point of the governor coming to the North Country. We never benefit from anything that the says. Case in point. Why do we have to pay for the transportation system in New York City. I think it is a waste of his time and ours for him come here. He should just stay home. Instead of our taxes going to buses that we don't use how about some money to get us a helicopter to use to fly seriously ill or injured patients to a hospital. Don't bother coming governor. Not many of us are interested in seeing you. Promises get made when you all are running for office but are conveniently forgotten once elected.

Personally if I was in any public office in Watertown ,I would be totally embarrassed for any NY official, especially the governor to come to our city. Our city looks very bad. There is trash everywhere you look, seems like there is not any pride here. I've been to a lot of small cities and they do not look as dirty as Watertown. Even NYC has cleaner streets.Come on people, look around the next time your driving and you be the judge. Is this the image you what to project about the way we live in the north country?
