Say It Ain't So Senator Parker

From the land of hypocrisy another wonderful tale of a Democrat Senate majority member.

Pretty soon the Democrats will not only have to worry about losing the majority to the Republicans; they will be battling against themselves and their members serving time.

Hmmmm ... do you think that is their motive for closing prisons? To keep their members free and able to vote on the Senate floor!

When Democrat State Sen. Kevin Parker talks about the problem of home foreclosures, he knows from whence he speaks.

Parker, who is paid $100,000 a year as a Senator, hasn’t paid a dime on the mortgage for his $600,000 Brooklyn home in over a year.

Now his bank is (NY Post) threatening to take the property.

Parker is Albany’s leading champion for families threatened with the loss of their home, and he’s even proposed using state tax dollars to help bail out homeowners.

In failing to pay his own mortgage, Parker might claim he’s just following his own advice, contained in a brochure he’s distributed to constituents (but, oddly, which seems no longer to be available on the Senate Democrats’ new super-duper website).

In the brochure, Parker warns homeowners to avoid “common mistakes,” like “Reacting too quickly” (Take a deep breath and assess your situation), and “Giving up” (Do not consider bankruptcy without first considering all other options).

He also rails against “disingenuous lenders” who “tricked people” into thinking they could afford high-priced (like, say, $600,000) homes.

“These are our friends, our neighbors or perhaps, your own family…people who only wanted the ‘American dream.’”

You may recall Parker for his “nothing to protect up there but the silos” tirade against additional funding for North Country homeland security initiatives, which prompted an impassioned defense of our region by our former Sen. Jim Wright (don’t you miss him?).

By the way, don’t ask Parker about all this.

He’s (NY Post) been arrested for allegedly assaulting a photographer who was covering the story.

Not MY friends and neighbors -- we all pay our debts.

I guess when Democrats sign all those bank papers promising to pay back their home loans, they think it doesn't apply to them.

Then again, when has an Albany Democrat ever kept his promise?

Both democrats and republicans are facing foreclosure, unemployment and the economic problems that come with all of that, including not being able to pay mortgages. No Albany Democrat or Republican, politicians all, keep their promises.

2:21 That's a very fashionable defense. Makes no sense whatsoever, but it's very slick.

I don't think "everybody does it" carries lot of weight. But if that's what you're comfortable with, fine.

7:42 When Republican David Renzi was caught with his hands in the retirement cookie jar his defense backed by the Watertown Times and PIV was that everybody does it.

Why don't you phonies give Renzi's retirement story a rest? There was nothing there - just more of the local government good old boys abusing the system as they've been doing for decades. Don't blame Renzi for the locals' thievery.

And no, IV, I don't miss Jim Wright whatsoever. There are planty of other arrogant, condescending, know-it-alls in Albany and the power brokers seats around the North Country.

I've yet to see any tangible proof of Wright's good work on our behalf. Anything thing we may have gained through Wright's tenure was only something that would be an even greater political benefit to Wright. He's another phoney.

Those of us with pair of balls are not afraid to praise the fact that his sorry ass is no longer screwing things up for us. He's DANC's problem now, and he can't really do too much damage there as the Democrats control Albany and they'll only throw DANC a few scraps now and then to make Darrel the Dolt look good.

So, stop sucking up to Lord Jim (you've been carrying his water for far too long - even Patti Ricthie is too stupid to realize you were Wright's boy in the election she so handily lost of Darrel) and give him a good kick in the ass on his way out the door with the rest of us.

Hey woodchuck he carried his own water in the next election. Look where that got him.

Not at all the same thing, 9:15. But again, if that's what you're comfortable with. Go with it. Obviously being a donkey, and defending them under any circumstances, is what you're all about. You are the kind of person who has brought NY to the place it is. Congrats.

Ironic, isn't it, that when Hiram Monserrate was charged with two felonies for slashing his girlfriend, Smith didn't remove him from a committee, and even hosted a fundraiser for him.

Now he jumps all over Parker within hours of his arrest and strips him of his committee and lulu.

Two standards? Learning from the oast? Or just more Albany Democrat hypocrisy?

(Incidentally, Darrel A still hasn't commented publicly on the Monserrate arrest. Or on the Efrain Gonzalez guilty plea. Will he say anything about Parker, who once said that there was nothing in the North Country worth protecting from terrorist attack?)
