Budget Woes

Possibly the worst budget in New York State history just got more bad news, revenues cannot support the foolishness of the Democrats increase in their spending of nearly 10% this year.

A fiscally irresponsible budget that did little in the way of spending cuts and a lot in the way of increased taxes is at a crossroads and the so called leaders of this state will have to find ways to perhaps actually cut spending, or continue to do what they do best - raise taxes.

Faux conservative Governor David Paterson now wants to set a mandatory spending limit on state spending, but that appears just a political attempt to raise his sagging poll numbers. If he was serious he would have imposed it on the budget this year, no legislation should be necessary to do the right thing.

Tax and spend Democrats in the Senate are opposed to spending limits, if they were serious about controlling spending, legislation like this would not bother them.

One Democratic Senator who understood the plight of taxpayers in this state or finances could have voted no on this budget and single handedly stopped this bad budget.

$8 billion in new taxes.
$13 billion in new spending.
AND a $6 billion deficit.

Nice work, Sen. Aubertine, getting it done.

Nah, I think you have it all wrong. This is George Bush's fault. He was the one who forced the guys in Albany to spend this money. You factor in that terrible prez Bush, along with global warming and those mean old companies like Halliburton and you have the makings of a disaster.

Vote donkey.

I have it from a reliable source that just before he left office, Bush signed a secret executive order that required Patterson, Silver and Smith to spend like drunken sailors and to do all that they could do to bankrupt the state.

C'mon Kerm, now that you're back in the fold. I'd like you to weigh in on this. What should we do? Does ya like what our new Dems are doing in Albany? Does this budget make sense to you? You're the only guy/girl I know who could explain it in words us blue collars could understand. Me, I be befuddled.

Kinda ties in here... remember all the flack about "wine/beer sold in places other than liqueur outlets?"

So, how come people are not upset about Wal-Mart coming to town and setting up a "super center" and wiping out Mom and Pop stores out of business, or other chain stores (recent battle for massive selling of all products by Target).

Funny, the hypocritical game we play, isn't it? We used to call it competition but today: anger via picking and choosing sides.
