Hold These Thoughts Chuck!

You hold the cards this time Chuck, hold these thoughts and question Obama's nominee thoroughly and thoughtfully, remember she will become a judge for all people, not just the liberals.

Interesting note, Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor's brother, Dr. Juan Sotomayor, is a physician in North Syracuse, whose practice doesn't accept Medicaid or Medicare - programs for the poor and elderly - according to its Web site.

Republicans only use the term "judicial activism" when they don't agree with a ruling.

The activist attack, and calling her a racist will do us no good, PIV. Her brother is not revelent. Don't get caught in that trap, PIV. Please try to show the conservative movement in a positive light. You are scrounging for material here.

Geez CL I do not recall and even reread the post and I do not see any place where I called her a racist.

And if you even speculate that I did then you are crazy. I strongly object to even the slight bit of racism, such as referring to a person by their personal characteristics or ethnicity.

My friend I would say that you do not know me at all, even as much as you profess your knowledge here.

That extract that is neatly pulled from Judge Sotomayor's sound byte about "judges making laws" is bogus ... I heard her precise words - she said...

"I know, I know, judges make policy, not laws, we don't make law, I know that and I'm not supposed to say that ..."

Then she continued...

The whole always gets hacked into tiny soundbytes that appease one side or the other ...

There is is no doubt in my mind that anyone serving on the USSC does not know that CONGRESS makes the laws and that they, the Court ALWAYS interprets the laws and makes ruling that may/may not affect or impact that law.

THAT IS THEIR DUTY, and I BELIEVE THEY KNOW THEIR DUTY IN THAT REGARD.

This is a huge strawman, redmeat issue since the GOP has no sustance much anymore and that's kinda pathetic since we need two strong parties to work to achieve things for the whole good, and not sustain this BS game both sides play like right now...

Schumer is a hypocrite pretty much just like most others in the Senate ... [and the House] -- the problem is, it's so obivous to many, sadly, except to the rabid partisans who can't see past their own narrow minds and snooty noses.

Like I said, you are scrounging for material here. The brother thing is a bit weak. I have read every post you have ever made and know you well enough to say that I think your personal type of attacks do us no good. You always seek out and pick the worse of the talking points. Just an opinion from one who has been around long enough to know that the attack system has never worked very well locally. That is why you have a comment section..for opinions.....right?

As to 12:02, that's the trouble with this entire thing. No matter the criticism, the response is calling the source a racist. I'd jump on you for it, but it is a tactic that works. Until we grow out of it, I guess I can't blame you for using it.

I don't know much about this woman yet. But we can be sure media won't be telling us too much negative info. Nobody wants to be called a racist.

You should retract your part about his practice does accept Medicare or Medicaid ... a little research goes a long way.

Dr. Sotomayor's Practice Accepts MedicareMedicaid is a different aspect.

As you know, Medicaid is the Federal health care program for eligible individuals and families with low incomes and/or limited or no resources.

It is a means-tested program that is jointly funded by the states and federal government, and is managed by the states.

Among the groups of people served by Medicaid are eligible low-income parents, children, seniors, and people with disabilities.

Being poor, or even very poor, does not necessarily qualify an individual for Medicaid.

It is estimated that approximately 60 percent of poor Americans are not covered by Medicaid.

Just for the record.

Uh, Dan. I think you're the one who is confused. There is nothing misleading or inaccurate as I see it about claims that a practice can accept medicare but not medicaid. I don't know what this particular guy does, but lots of docs take one and not the other. As far as defining the difference, most of us know that already. I'm not sure if you think talking down to us is an effective method to convince people, but it doesn't work with me.

As long as we're drifting way off the supreme court nom by introducing the Dr's billing practices, how many PAs or MDs in Watertown and surrounding areas accept Medicare/caid? Anybody know? I heard only the HGS Plaza facility accepts them.....

Racism? Her nomination is racist and sexist because Snobama picked her simply because she was a HISPANIC WOMAN!!!!!!

Is she qualified? Probably. But we know the two primary reasons for her selection were gender and race. It really had little, if anything, to do with her jurisprudence.

All you liberal phonies need to admit that and shut the hell up about it.

Too bad for her that there are recordings and transcripts of her past comments that tell the real story of her judicial bent....And since when is a Supreme picked because of his or her "empathy." Obama is clearly another president obsessed with "making history" just like Bill Clinton and his all-too-phony wife!

wcs- I assume then that Bush wanted Miers on there with Roberts and Alito because she would balance the judicial view. Give me a freakin' break..you Reps have shorter memories for FACTS than my goldfish.

Anon. 9:47 -- I'm not putting anyone down - my post aked that IV clarify the part about "... Dr. Sotomayer doens't take Medicare..." part - his practice does accept Medicare.

Then I pointed out the differences between Medicare and Medicaid. You'd be surprised how many people do not know the diff.

But, most of here at this trough of enlightenment know your insults when we see them ... that is pretty clear.

Yup Dan. I'm a pro on insulting people. I recognize insults better than anyone. That's why I called you on it.

And yeah, Sotomayor or whatever her name is, was picked because of what she is. But there's plenty of evidence that she's a real obnoxious lady, so once she's there she will provide entertainment to people who follow Supreme Court decisions. She certainly won't have a problem with self confidence. And she's the right kind of minority, unlike that Thomas guy, who's the wrong kind of minority. We don't need them kind of people. Hey, look on the bright side. There's lots to grin about. Obama did a good one.

Why should we pussy foot the issue? She is a racist!the remark mexican woman can judge better than white men came from her mouth not anyone else.if a white man other than biden said something like that they would be finished. The chuckles that came when she stated judges don't make law from the bench also gave me cold chills. She is also bitterly anti 2nd ammend.Which to me makes strike three. Surely obama can find someone better. And schumer that lying hypocryte sack of **** since when has he worried about the constitution or our freedoms. there are Bad days ahead.
