Proud Senator

This is New York State Senator Hiram Monserrate dragging his girlfriend through their apartment building after he slashed her face up. The Democrats in the New York State Senate continue to tolerate these type of actions and those of Senator Espada and Kevin Parker purely for political reasons.

Hard to believe this is the guy Darrel Aubertine welcomed back with open arms--and never even a single word of criticism.

So Darrel...whatcha think? Is he "One of us?"

Give me a break.

8:05 AM Why is it hard to believe? His name is followed by a D so that makes it ok.Seems the chicago thug politics is spilling over.

A bunch of Criminals just like Sheldon Silver. Unfortunately, he's never been formally charged with abusing and raping the taxpayers of the State of New York.

Sad but true.

I said a long time ago that Espada and Monserrate (you could spell his name correctly at least) both need to go - kick them out - recall, impeach, or whatever else is legal -- just get them the hell out.

Standing with them is just as bad... if you git ma drift?

And were worried about Darryl??? Or AJR.??

If the guy is convicted or not makes no difference. Either way he will be replaced by a Donkey who votes the same way on everything. I say, save the money, drop the charges, let the woman slasher keep his job.

There's no reason to believe he slashed her face based on racial prejudices. If he were a Republican, that would have been the case. But this guy did it for good old fashioned reasons, right Dan? Keep him in there. He's one of us.

The need for more polite political conversation is undeniable. I don't think anybody should bring up the fact that the woman was slashed in the face, or that there's a videotape of the Senator doing so. This would be too uncivil a discussion for us to have. I believe we should be more polite and happy to each other, and not be extreme in our verbage. So instead of talking about shoving a glass in this woman's face, we should refer to the Senator's actions as "inappropriate hugging" or "drinking too fast with broken glass". There is no reason for hate to enter our discourse.

I agree that the Dems should have done something in addition to waiting for a trial, but I can't recall that the Reps were too upset to accept Espada and M into their group.

What do you suggest the Dems do, 9:47? The man was entrapped by an out of control woman who jumped into his wine glass. This is not the time for partisanship. It is time to show understanding and sensitivity to a young couple, trying to sort out their personal difficulties in an atmosphere of political tension. I don't believe the good Senator is a racist or that he is connected in any way to Fox News. Can't we just come together on issues that face all of us and work towards the betterment of the common man/woman/transgender?

11:27 ... I know what you mean. I saw this really angry guy whip out his .45 and fire at a guy for no apparent reason as he ran away; and the poor SOB just got in front his bullet ... dropped him like a bad habit...

Yeah 4:12. That's exactly right. And if the guy had to observe a 5 day waiting period the guy would have been able to get away. I think.

I beeeelieve I'm on your side.
Not sure.
