The Senate Democrats have hired his son as deputy director of intergovernmental relations for a healthy $120,000 a year salary.
You have to guess this seals the deal, Espada will not defect to anyone in the future.
Espada -
"Let me make it unequivocally clear that this is not the result of a quid pro quo or a contingency to my ending the Senate stalemate. I ended the stalemate because it was the right thing to do for the people of the State and because I achieved my goal of enacting reform in the Senate that has not been witnessed in 40 years."Uhmmm Senator he is my response to that - bull$hit. You would not know the right thing to do if it bit you in the a$$.
The Democrats do not possess the ability to lead this state and this is yet another example why!

Smoked again!
And now there's a Burto on the council, how much worse could it get.????
Let's not try to claim this nonsense is one party or another. Look at the Bush Administration and no-bid contracts/the hiring of Brownie to lead FEMA plus countless others.
Locally, just look at Burto hiring Burto.
Pedro's sleazy, but he would be still be powerless now if it were not for the Republicans.
Liblaff, Downstate, Bush, I thought we were talking about NY State corruption.
Ya just can't bring yourselves to do it, can you boyz, Do you realize what a joke you've become?
We're back to the "yeah but that guy does it too" defense. And you wonder why everyone with a brain dismisses party liners like yourselves. I think the Burto situation stinks too. I have no idea what brought that about and I would be glad to HELP you hammer the hell out of Elephants for that bad joke. But you have to admit truths as well. Party is more important to you than anything else.
We're back to the "yeah but that guy does it too" defense."
How about upstate corruption when the WDT said it was ok for Renzi to steal from the retirement system because everybody did it. You would have been with a corrupt Senator.
How 'bout, nobody doeees it.
Nobody caaaares.
As long as it's the ooother party.
Useful idiots.
You're the fools while our govment leaders do whores, drive expensive cars, get their kids set up for life, have their faces and boobs lifted, and screw your daughters. Sons too if part of that commuuuuunity.
While you blame the other party for all ills. Stupid would be too kind a word for you.
All party liners.
if the Reps like Renzi pad their retirements, it's expected in the NC. But Dems better watch their step, because the same rules don't apply. Got it. The Dems have a different set of standards.
I think "Hook, Line, and Stinker" would be apropos title for this post?
I still say, remove Sen. Espada from office, now more than ever.
Boy, guess the boys over at DA's office are busily trying to bury this one too on the blogs...
Darrel hired his sister and Pedro hires his son...isn't this what you're supposed to do?
Will someone at the WDT or Channel 7 call Darrel and ask him, "Senator, why aren't you decrying YOUR SENATE MAJORITY LEADER for hiring his son? Isn't this nepotism in its truest sense?"
Of course, we can't get that story written either. Shameful...can't wait to vote them all out.
Syracuse paper has an excellent editorial demanding that Democrat Senators -- like Aubertine and "reformer" Dave Valesky -- dump Esapada.
It also calls for the DA to investigate Espada.
How could Darrel vote to make this guy the second most powerful man in NYS government?
No one voted this guy in. If you remember they knew they would not have enough votes so they had to change the rules so Smith could appoint him majority leader without a vote. I am sure if you asked Darrel he would say he does not support this scum bag.
Hey, that's change got cha'... suck it up.
seems to me that Gingrich pioneered these tactics-it was ok then, right?
Pedro is NOT a scum bag. Pedro is a good Democrat, especially since he came back from the dark side.
Perhaps he got his son this job as a way to improve their relationship. You're going to begrudge someone for trying to do something for their kid? Shame on you.
12:49AM you want channel 7 and or WDT to do a story. That;s the real Bull$hit. They would not Know a story if it bit them in the A$$.
As for all the mud slinging by IV, he needs and IV started on him with some sanity medicine to iradicate his stupidity and the Republican;s are always right. Both Dummycrates and repubicans are guilty of favoritism, corruption, cronisim and all the other isms you can think of. Who's fault is it. Everyones including IV who fail to realize that it's these people democrates and republicans who put these people in office.
Gee mayor Graham, if I support someone, can I get a state job?
I like how all you Republicans are assuming everyone is up Pedro's ass now that he swapped back but not one person has said that they are happy to have him back. Stop being bitter. No one wants Pedro. Would you rather the state still be in deadlock wasting millions of our tax dollars while Pedro was on YOUR side? If the answer is yes then that goes against all the GOP believes in, if the answer is no then that goes against your current argument. So what will it be?
