Politcal Suicide?

Is Dede planning on switching parties to become a Democrat where she appears more comfortable in her positions with issues such as card check, bailouts and stimulus funding?

Or is she committing political suicide on her own? After all many GOP supporters despite their discomfort with her left of center positions on card check, etc. stuck with her and now she slaps them in the face.

Scozzafava headlines:

Lured by Cuomo
Spoke with Schumer
Met with June O'Neill
Silver told Scozzafava
Dede coaxed by White House

The end result would have been the same whether or not she was selected as the candidate. She knew people had difficulties with some of her positions; had they not selected her it would have been "they are kicking Dede to the curb yet again." But they selected her despite her positions and the electorate kicked her to the curb and she lashes back at the GOP and appears to be on a path to switch parties.

How does she expect the Republicans to react? At the very least the Assembly Republicans have an obligation to remove Dede from her leadership post sooner rather than later, which will provide the necessary excuse for Scozzafava to quit the Republicans (like she quit the race) and change her party registration.

Dede's statement on the day she quit the race -
I am and have always been a proud Republican. It is my hope that with my actions today, my party will emerge stronger and our district and our nation can take an important step towards restoring the enduring strength and economic prosperity that has defined us for generations.
She spoke of integrity, principles and people's word during the campaign and attacked another opponent for going back on their word. And now just more than 48 hours after hoping her actions would help her party emerge stronger, she is a different person who's own self proclaimed principled words are now annulled.

Nancy Martin needs to go!

I agree! Nancy get out now or you will be forced out. You have demonstrated that you cannot lead our party!

Perhaps you are looking at this the wrong way (or perhaps the "right way" as a strict blindly follow the Republican party lines) Maybe Dede is trying to move the Republican party to more center. As a Republican, I can not vote for Hoffman. I can't vote for Owens either. As you have commented on here numerous times as to why we should not vote for Hoffman or Owens.

But now I am expected to blindly follow the Republican National Committee and vote for Hoffman, even though a week ago you agreed that he is not the best candidate?

Maybe Dede does need to switch parties. Maybe she needs to join the Libertarian party and have a true logical center of the road political party. We have certainly seen that neither the Democrats or Republicans are for fiscal conservatism as the GOP claims they are.

I think it's time for a strong third party to appear, that can actually bring this Country in the correct direction.

Or, perhaps I'm crazy!

I hate these personal attacks (like on Dede), or on anyone else for one simple reason: All career Pols, and/or those bent on staying in office, or winning office as they say "to win at any cost – that’s all that matters" is precisely the problem.

I've said it before and I'll say it over and over again: Many claim principles (hollow words), take the high ground (yet they take the low road), “our” values (another empty word to them in the end), as they claim to stand with the people (all the while they take and seek millions from outside). And worst of all: We tolerate it.

We tolerate it that is until how – the change we often scream about? This could be it. What we see now may be part of massive change and it's not pretty. Either is sausage making. The question is though: Change for whom?

A must watch - short clip.

23rd: Toss Up or Not???

We are about to find out what the future of GOP holds for itself (Conservatives vs. Moderates vs. Others vs. Self) ... that much is clear.

INDIES will determine the outcome and remember:

OWENS is still a registered INDY and can't be an official DEM until after this election.

See if I'm right tomorrow night?

I have posted at various sites that this race has Rahm Emanuel's fingerprints all over it (he is White House CofS)...

Showdown Time

EXTRACT:

The NY-23 special election on Tuesday has the attention of the White House at the highest levels, with White House sources saying that the endorsement of Democrat Bill Owens by "Republican" Dede Scozzafava
came only after a call from White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel asking that she throw her support behind the Democrat.

By any measurement, that is not right.

Assemblywoman Scozzafava endorsing Bill Owens reminds me of that Doug Hoffman guy who tried to take down the Republican party by switching to the Conservative Party.
