Gillibrand Up, Paterson Down

A Siena poll release today is somewhat favorable news for Kirsten Gillibrand, but not such good news for Paterson.

Governor David Paterson's favorable rating continues its skid from a high of 64 to currently 54%, while his unfavorable rating has reached its highest percent at 30.

An overwhelming number of voters approve of the Gillibrand appointment but she is clearly favored upstate more than downstate. New York City voters approve of her appointment by a margin of 44-34, downstate suburban voters 44-43 and upstate voters 63-19.

no question paterson's numbers have come down, but they're still not so bad, either -- a +24 net favorability is never anything to blow your nose at. maybe it's just me, but i think he took a much bigger hit with the media over the kennedy/gillibrand affair than he did with the voting public. dealing with the budget, on the other hand -- that's where the really treacherous waters are.

Yup, yup, and yup, Frog. You are right. The people don't blame him for the Kennedy deal. The media tried to put that on the Gov, but it won't stick. It wasn't his screw up.

And unfortunately, he will take a hit on the budget, because everybody wants to keep spending money we don't have. But he has to lead on this. If we don't address the issue and cut spending, we are in trouble. In the long run, if he attacks the special interests and gets the budget under control, he will be respected by NY's fair minded citizens. There are a few of them left.

Give the Frog a bug to eat.

Anonymous you are seeing things again that aren't there. What is it about you that (1) does not even get what was posted (2) requires that your make up your own version and (3) requires that you make a harmful insult to prove your point?

I don't know what YOU said, Frogger. I'm just saying that I don't think most people blame the Gov for the Kennedy trainwreck. If you do, so be it. I don't, and I don't believe most folks do.

Otherwise, I was agreeing with you all the way. I didn't realize I was disagreeing with you on that point.

Don't be so sensitive.

As far as OswegoDem, I don't understand what you're talking about.

But I do know I must be gettin to ya because you like to respond to me a lot. That makes me feel all warm inside. Not a Chris Matthews warm but a little heated nonetheless.

I'm here for ya.

yep, sorry anon, i just plain misread your comment. for what it's worth, i wouldn't exactly say that paterson didn't screw up at all; specifically, i don't think he did a good job playing the media game. but i think that most people, like myself, don't really care.

We did one, kermit. We agreed on something..

And by the way, I've got a cardinal that seems to be coming back almost every day.

It probably was part of that $800 billion dollar stimulatin' package. Provide a cardinal for that anonymous screwball.
