There are no tough choices in this budget, it is just bad policy.
Read Daily News' Bill Hammond's piece here
"Gov. Paterson and his fellow Democrats are confirming everyone's worst fears about Albany becoming a one-party town. Instead of demonstrating that they can be fiscally responsible in a crisis, they are acting just like stereotypical, out-of-control, big-government liberals.
"They're using their newfound dominance of state government to tax and spend with abandon, shaft the middle class, let criminals out of jail and cozy up to labor."
"When push came to shove, though, they caved to pressure from the special interests and produced a lazy, business-as-usual budget. And, quite possibly, signed their political death warrants."The Republican Senators would serve New York residents well if they continue to sit this out and prevent the 38 member quorum needed, until they are ready to vote. Ready - meaning they have had proper time to digest this budget mess and propose amendments.
The so called snag that prevented any budget votes so far today (they are now being called back at 5:30) was supposedly due to an illness of a Democrat in the razor thin majority, which means they could not pass this budget without a Republican. But, the inside scoop is that some rank and file Democrat Senators know just how bad this is and wanted off the reservation.
There will be more to come on the loss of STAR rebate, school runs, etc.
Where is our representation on this budget - Darrel Aubertine and Addie Jenne Russell?

Our folks weren't in the room. Only Shelly, Smith, and the Gov were in the room.
Smith and the Gov were making food runs.
Our guys just sign where they are told. Can't really blame them.
Long live President for Life Silver.
