Currier Kicked To The Curb By Hennessey

Sean Hennessey does not believe in "people's choice," he just believes in "his choice." Hennessey has single handedly kicked Tim Currier out of the race for the 118th Assembly District AFTER he had already announced.

Currier is quoted in a recent article of the Watertown Daily Times announcing his candidacy.

Mr. Currier made his campaign official Tuesday.

"I ask you to walk with me today, walk with me to Albany and have your voices heard," the 20-year police veteran told a crowd of some 80 family, friends and supporters during the official announcement at the Massena Community Center. "It's time for us to get the attention we deserve. We are the north country and it is time for change."

It may be one thing to talk people out of running, but that usually occurs prior to a person announcing, Sean Hennessey, Chair of the Democratic Committee in Jefferson County is taking choices away from the public. According to the Watertown Daily Times "
Jefferson County Chairman Sean M. Hennessey has said that he will not authorize Mr. Currier’s bid"

This is how Hennessey defines the party of the people!

Long ago you got into politics becuse you believed in something. Today you get into politics because someone else thinks you'll do well. Along with the DNC mess in FL and MI, you can now add northern NY. Party boss doesn't approve? You're out of luck!

Just a couple of clarifications:
1) The "Chair decides" rule was adopted long before Hennessey became Chair.
2) It was adopted primarily because nefarious republicans were interferring with the democratic party process by changing registrations back and forth and trying to 'pack' local
committees in order to screw up the works.

By the way the St. Lawrence Republicans kicked Bobby to the curb.

you know this is one reason in reality why companies and business leave new york aswel as the usa.

Jessy Ventura said it correctly on a interview the only difference between communist Russia and the us government these days is you have 1 extra choice. i mean come on. more them half of the laws in the tows, and in the state of new york are in violations of other laws aswel as federal and they get away with it all the time. this is one reason our company is moving to Europe so were not screwed or taxed to death like here. example if you own land and property and have employees your taxed close to 120% thats if you all all the taxes combined, were taxed higher then any nation in the world. i think we need a new political party somthign thats not rigged, and by rigging the elections all the time,.

All Hennessey did was support the candidate he believes will do the best job - Addie. SLC Republicans have kicked Cantwell to the curb, obviously lending loyalty to their candidate who has yet to emerge. Republican or Democrat - not much difference when it comes to loyalty.

If and I say if Mr Button is serious about running, he should have declared it at the meeting of the SLR committee. Its getting kind of late to be playing games at this late date, with petitions being isssued. The SLR committee is right on though, you don't endorce if your committee might have a candidate thinking about announcing. Time to tell all David, are you or are you not??
Don't waite for RACC.

By the way, the Chair of the County with the LARGER POPULATION, in this case, St. Lawrence County, decides the Wilson-Picula issue pursuant to Democratic party rules.

If Mr. Currier were a member of the Democratic party, he would have EVERY RIGHT to run, unfortunately, he is not a member of the party. He can't run of right under the election law.

There's no difference between the two parties. I wonder who will be blessed with taking Addie's spot on the County board??

What a shame. Shawn you pushed Currier aside so your hand picked girl could run without opposition. The Friday Pizza Party Club is great, but not the best place to find a 118th Assembly Seat choice. Are we the party that brings everyone in?? - Guess not!

Has anyone asked - how does Jenne raise her 4-month old on the campaign trail? How does she take the 1 year old to Albany with her?

Good point, how does Jenne-Russell campaign with a four-month old who would be a year old if she takes office. Darrel spent half the year in Albany and the other half travleing the district. Do we really beleive she is the best person to represent us? Is there any chance someone else will run?

Let's not forget that Timmy Currier endorsed Addie at his Press Conference on Friday. He also was able to get Shawn Hennessey and June O'Neil to show up. Is his endorsement that important?

If you attended the SL Dem meeting last week you might agree that this was more about keeping Tim Currier from beating Addie and less about rules. Hennessey found Currier to be a real serious challenge to the seat that he and his small circle of friends from Jefferson County want to control.
