Flirting

Hizzoner Jeff Graham is flirting with a run for county clerk. Graham has the capabilities to make a good county clerk.

Graham, a journalist by profession, is well read and when focused is a very knowledgeable person who is able to grasp and solve issues with a common sense approach. When Graham is not off the reservation with some idea, he has provided good leadership to the community and possesses a no frills approach to what confronts him. Jeff Graham would bring a consumer first approach to the county clerk's office.

Graham is serving his fourth term as Mayor of Watertown, interrupted in between by one term out of office.

Here are some attributes he brings to the position.

1. A true independent not tied to a major party and able to work with all.
2. Business and management skills honed over his lifetime.
3. Experience in elected office and a working knowledge of state and local government.
4. Knowledge of the car industry and its relationship to DMV.
5. Public relations and retail skills conducive to running an agency dealing with the public.
Could we see a Graham for County Clerk sign soon?

Why not. There's no doubt he could do the job. Problem is, he would be bored with it.

He still owns a bar, right? That would be worth a few votes in my book!

You've got to be kidding, right? After the Quick Draw debacle??

The man has more baggage than Samsonite!

Shamelessly stolen months ago from R. Wiley:

says the watertown mayor, jeff graham
i gotta peddle used cars, but damn
i would much prefer
to sell you a beer
and a ticket to the quick draw grand slam

Oh Oh, the PIV kiss of death.

Some people don't like the guy. He is a north sider and all. Reminds me of Dan Francis in some ways, both sides have a distrust for him. That's why I like him.

And he knows his stuff.

If he wanted to run I would vote for him.

Geez - If you're going to advertise for the guy, at least clean up the grammer and spelling.

I would welcome it. I always wanted to vote against that guy.

Thanks Dan.

What's the matter with supporting the guy, 5:49? Different kinds of pols are welcome now and then.

No difference anyway. He doesn't intend to run or so I hear.

As Christians we must forgive. But, we don't have to elect to countywide office (or appoint to head DANC, for that matter).

If Jeff Graham is the best the local GOP can come up with, then it is truly time to pack-up the tent.

Where are the Tom Walkers of OUR generation. Is there no one beyond reproach? or even close??

Jeff Graham is so far off the mark it is pathetic.

And it is laughable that you, PIV, would even suggest it.

Graham is the last person to be made clerk. During the presidential campaign he claimed there were terrorists connections in Jefferson County along the border! Making him clerk is like making Joe McCarthy clerk. Graham gets his marching orders from Rush Limbaugh and other right wing whackos, and he'll use anything he can glean from the clerk's files to screw people in Jefferson County to suit the national right wing agenda.

Jeff Graham would be the LAST person that I would want in charge of the public record.

The very LAST!

I am putting my money for the job on 2:1 Gray for the Republican endorsement as County Clerk.

We have thought all along that the JefCo legis Board was involved with PIV and the attacks on the Senator.
I said that during the campaigns. If the legis wants to support or oppose a candidate so be it but not with a anon blog.
If you guys are are goofy enough to elect PIV or the mayor after this scheme, you deserve them.

regular readers of piv know s/he frequently "writes" posts which are just copied from others, without attribution. and regular readers also know this blog frequently devolves into a pure propaganda outlet. but when have the two ever come together like this! from the wdt, via jll:

Mr. Graham sent an e-mail Monday evening to Political IV, a local Republican-leaning blog, saying: "Name me a candidate for county clerk who has the following skill set."

The mayor then offered five attributes that he said he believed would make him a viable candidate for the position, which is up for election this November. Those attributes were copied verbatim by the blog's author, who added: "Graham has the capabilities to make a good county clerk."

Good point and remember this was the same guy who recorded quick draw for an addicted gambler who was playing with his step-daughter's millions.

And a poor representation of the conservative movement I might add. We need to show ourselves in a more positive venue if we are to reverse the political course here in Jefferson County. Bringing the Mayor of Watertown to the front of our party is a bad move.

This is a verbatim email from the Mayor that the WDT referred to? You guys are all nuts.

I don't view PIV as a propaganda blog. You still have the opportunity to post here, a freedom you don't have at the Dem site. And Jeff Graham, follow a "national right wing agenda"? Not sure about that line of thought either. He's not a big believer in government but "right wing" is a little bit off the mark.

Some folks are really getting worked up of late. Usually, springtime brings a more relaxed and balanced temperment. Not here, not lately.

Don't these people have something to look forward to? Summer hobbies, family gatherings? BBQ?

i think you're misreading the story in the times. it doesn't claim that iv's entire post was copied verbatim from the email, only the numbered list of five attributes.

Yup, I understand. I just don't agree with the "points".

Ya know, I don't even KNOW how to do all that link stuff some of you guys do, let alone understand what you're saying.

I'm too old. And I refuse to get any younger.
