School Aid Run

School aid is essentially flat, which means you can expect a school tax increase. This is another of this gem of this bad budget.

Percent Increase from last year.

General Brown 3.93
Thousand Islands 1.53

I disagree PIV. We need to say no to these folks. If the state would have handed them their usual increase, they simply would have spent it. Local folks have to learn to question the lie that increases in spending don't cost local taxpayers. These increases do. Media needs to be honest. And we need to be honest with ourselves.

I believe you will find, on second look, that school aid will increase, slightly. The "pain and suffering" story being shopped right now will turn out to be just that. Check the numbers in a few days. A 9% increase in spending just HAD to include something for our overworked educators.

And now we see that I was right. Mr Aubertine is telling us that indeed there is a spending increase built into the budget for our local schools.

It could not have been otherwise. This industry owns our legislators. Very interesting, Senator Aubertine, before the budget was passes, keeps quiet about school spending increases. Within hours of its passage, he's crowing to his handlers that he gave them more money. Not a good indication of honesty, Senator.

If you thought this was the right thing to do, why weren't you honest about it in the first place?

Disappointing. But don't worry, we will be glad to pay the bill, Senator. After all, it's for the children.
