Wham 'Bam-a

Obama received the verbal equivalent of a cuff side the head today from Duke Coach Mike Krzyzewski.

The coach says Obama should spend his time on the economy not the final four.  It probably doesn't help that Bama picked Duke rival North Carolina to win the tournament.

Coach - "Really, the economy is something that he should focus on, probably more than the brackets."

OUCH!

Who will win and how far do you think Syracuse will go in the tournament?

And Coach K should focus more on his six game strategy than politics. They haven't done too well in the last few tourneys.

I'd only look to K for political advice if I was a Republican looking for someone to hold a $1000 a plate fundraiser.

I wanna see SU v. USC ... the final two dream teams:

* SU (our local team) - yeah.

** USC (my Alma Mater) - oops.

Blue Dog, I don't think it was a political comment at all. I think it was an off the cuff remark about the economy and not about the prez.

I'm not a Duke fan but to say they haven't done too well is a bit much. You mean they haven't won a national championship in the past few years? They're always there, BD.

As far as being a Republican and the $1000 a plate remark, you're reaching too hard. It's the donkeys who raise the big bucks now. Quit seeing partisan politics in everything.

Maybe we should seek Jay Leno's opinion on the matter.

ho hum, just another wild piv distortion.... from media matters:

Fox and the Associated Press are hyping a statement by Duke basketball coach Mike Krzyzewski that President Obama should focus on fixing the economy, not trying to predict NCAA tournament results:

"Somebody said that we're not in President Obama's Final Four, and as much as I respect what he's doing, really, the economy is something that he should focus on, probably more than the brackets," Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski said from the Blue Devils' first-round site in Greensboro, N.C.

But Krzyzewski was smiling as he said that, and his very next words -- not reported by the AP or Fox -- were "Why would I care about that? I love the guy, and I think he's gonna be great."

Yup, that media matters site is where I go every time I want unbiased information about anything political.

Geeeeze, thanks Hermit.

um, are you claiming that what media matters said is wrong in any way? do you have any evidence? i'm sure we'd all benefit from hearing it if you do.

Hermit, Coach Kezswhckheiw (k) was on some sports radio show today, talking about his "Great One" comments. I stand by my OPINION that he meant nothing political about what he was saying when he mentioned that O should concentrate on the economy and not the brackets. It just didn't sound like that was what he had in mind, at all. As far as Media Matters, I don't really care what they have to say about it. Coach Keszycykeyd just doesn't seem that political. At least he didn't sound it on that radio show. It's not that big a deal to me.

Still no cardinals.

aren't you making exactly my point? look at piv's original post -- s/he describes coach k's remarks as "a cuff side the head," when the video clip i linked to, and presumably the interview you heard, reveal them to be nothing of the sort. i totally agree it's not a big deal in any way, but that doesn't change the fact that it's still another example of iv's anti-obama propaganda.

as for media matters, i think the lesson from all this is that they've gained a little more credibility, and fox has lost a little more.

No Kermit, I don't think I'm making your point. But you say that a lot so maybe I am and I just don't know it.

Lots of commentators made a big deal about Coach Kekzxxck's statement. I just don't listen to lots of commentators. That Media Matters thing has no credibility to me, so I don't listen to them either.

When some people talk, I just don't listen.

You into dogs? Dog show in Syracuse next weekend, state fairgrounds. Last weekend I went to Kingston. Summer mode begins. When the ice melts.. boating.

No Hermit, I think that's what you want to happen, but media matters is a fringe source of info, completely biased. I know you have a need to hate FOX, but most people don't.

maybe you don't understand how this credibility thing works -- which wouldn't surprise me, given your reputation around here. see, fox tried to hype a certain story, but they left out part of it to try to shade it one way. media matters countered that by providing the fuller context -- or dare i say, by providing that "balance" you're always jabbering about -- in the form of the actual video clip of what krzyzewski said. what, do you think they doctored it? i'm not making any claims about the general credibility of media matters or fox. but only on crazy planet anonymous does media matters not come out of this particular instance with more credibility.
