Do They Get It?

If the Scozzafava campaign people have learned anything they should have one lesson down by now - the one issue Hoffman campaign will leap at any opportunity to paint her as a liberal!

If they continue to diddle around with the Working Families Party (WFP) they are playing with fire and no doubt will get burned beyond imagination. The attacks would be relentless and endless if she accepted this line.

Just like another quality campaign message - the Scozzafava campaign should just SAY NO to the WFP and say it now publicly!

The WFP is a toxic line poisoned by scandals, voter fraud, front organizations funneling money around campaigns and close association with scorched groups like ACORN. The electorate has seen all they need to see to understand their mission is seriously flawed.

There should be - no - none - zip - nada - in terms of hesitation on the Scozzafava campaign to say no thanks to this line and remove some imagery that she is being broad brushed with by Hoffman. Let Owens have the line the votes at all cost are not worth the association, if the Scozzafava is principled as their commercial states, then show it.

Scozzafava should run as a GOPer only.

Owens gets the DEM line.

Hoffman has the Conservative line.

* The WFP and INDIES or any other minor/third party who has a line, should field their own candidates.

Then we can see real, honest debate and differences, right?

LOL
Cross-endorsing is a joke.

Dede has been sucking up to the WFP for years to keep her labor fatcat supporters (including her husband) happy.

How anyone who claims to stand for any realistic standards of government can grovel to the jokers in the WFP is beyond comprehensive.

Look at their website for God's sake! Comrade Stalin would be proud of their platform and what they claim to stand for. They took the former Liberal Party's mantle, turned it inside out and pinned on a union label. They're a joke and should be treated with the contempt they deserve.

woodchucksage, the only time dede had wfp endorsement was when she ran unopposed. When a Democrat ran against her they had the endorsement.

I don't think the Jefferson county local wfp is associated with ACORN and radicalism like the NYC wfp is.

It's like how the NYS GOP isn't associated with fundamental evangelicism like the Alabama GOP is.

I do, however, like Hoffman's new ad. It's not negative like his previous ad and has an appealing conservative populist message.

Nearly $1 million in Homeland Security funding typically earmarked for fire departments has been awarded to ACORN, despite a clear signal from Congress that it intends to cut off federal funding to the embattled group.

The grant to ACORN's Louisiana office became public on Oct. 2, less than three weeks after the House and Senate voted to cut off ACORN funding after employees were caught on video advising a fake prostitute and pimp on scams.

It was one of only three such grants issued to the state and made up almost 80 percent of the firefighting money earmarked for Louisiana, prompting one of the U.S. senators from the state to demand that the funds be taken back.

"I request that you rescind this grant based on a history of abuse of federal dollars by ACORN and their clear lack of expertise in this area," said Sen. David Vitter, Louisiana Republican.

The group has headquarters in Louisiana.

When asked how the money would be spent, ACORN spokesman Brian Kettenring issued a statement criticizing the senator, who confessed in the past to having used an escort service.

"Senator Vitter knows a lot more about prostitution rings than anyone here does, so we'll defer to him on any matters pertaining to the videos attacking ACORN," the statement read. It did not explain how the group plans to spend the Federal Emergency Management Agency grant.

Mr. Vitter, who was routinely notified of the grant before it became public, sent his letter to Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano on Sept. 22, saying the money should be given "to a more deserving group of first responders."

One such group might have been the St. Tammany Parish Fire District No. 3, which applied for a $120,000 grant to purchase smoke alarms for low-income families after a January fire killed four childrenin a home that had no working detectors.

"We wanted to buy smoke detectors to spread to homes all over the community to prevent that from happening again," Chief Charles Flynn said in an interview Tuesday.

It's great to hear Dannie cry about Dede using the WFP line. But he never had a problem when Donkeys used the line in the past. I guess that was ok. Now an Elephant uses it and it offends him.

Whatta guy. He sure stands up at some funny times.

10:24 -- asswipe... I have always said that "cross party endorsements" were bad and that third parties should nominate their own and stand alone otherwise they are perceived as weak... which they are.

i.e., an INDY acting conservative or liberal just to get on a ballot or gain votes ain't too damn independent...

Dede has hit the "bigtime" via Huffingtonost.com and Politico.Com

They write that the GOP is so split and that Owens will probaby win ...

What a way for the balance of power to shift in this stance GOP area since the 1850's -- a guy like Owens (not even a regular or registered DEM to win as a Dem) and the GOP imploding -- it's almost laughable if it weren't so serious.

'Nearly $1 million in Homeland Security funding typically earmarked for fire departments has been awarded to ACORN'. Not to get off topic here, but why is Homeland Security funding local fire departments? This is exactly what is wrong with the government, and it cuts both ways -- Republican and Democrat. Is it the job of a federal agency, created to protect us from foreign and domestic terror threats, to fund local fire departments? If thats the case I wonder if the boys at the Northpole have got their hands out yet.

2:57 It gets worse. This was to carry them while the heat was on. Acorn is going to start getting federal money again at the end of the month. However the wrath of the people may stop it,we will see.Where's Beck when you need him?hahaha

* ACORN, Rev. Wright, "fist-bumps," Michelle Obama's speech remarks out of context, Obama's "birth certificate, or college records," "death panels," VA "Vet Death Guide," "Pull the Plug on Granny," guns worn at hips to rallies about "stopping socialism or worse," -- all nonsense.

Just sidedish distractions that add nothing to any serious debate about anything that people say we should be talking about... when one side or one person drowns all others, that's a distraction and adds nothing positive.

And, the incumbents love -- it takes pressure off them (for awhile at least) so they can get out and raise more money to stop policy that the screaming citizens aren't willing to talk about in a civilized fashion.

IMHO.

Gooood Dannie, now we've moved on to "asswipe". The way you're going you'll draw even any time now. So, in the last 24 hours we've had "fu*k you" and "asswipe". Imagine, you seriously presented yourself as a candidate for Congress. Can you imagine how funny it would be if you ever tried that again?

And as usual, not a word about the inconsistancy of your position, attacking Dede for accepting the WFP line while your party has, as you imply, used it for toilet paper.

6:11 — You deserve every name in the book if you continue to be the same Anonymous jerk who keeps dogging me with innuendo and lies about where I stand and/or what I have said or didn't, according to your interpretation. I hate responding to you but I will not let a lie stand.

FYI: I would make an excellent Rep. in congress for us ... all of us. It's my nature. I've not had very good campaigns due mostly to a “lack of party support and differences based on my style of leadership” (since I am not a party hack and don't walk the party line, but I am loyal according to my standards some movers in the Dem party tend to look past me and my involvement (even after losing races) doesn’t sit well with them since I keep trying – pity them for that view).

Maybe my style and/or actions have not served me well in political circles, but they sure served me well in the Marine Corps and as a DOD civilian for over 40 years as I served the public in non-elected offices.

Of course folks like you don’t consider that important when personalities over shadow common sense. I guess you probably have never met me....

Well, the Dem that Dannie hates cause he lost the endorsement, Owens, has the WFP nod. Now can we calm down. All is as it should be and always has been. What the heck were you people all rattled about?

If this was an important topic in your life, you don't have much of a life. WFP is made up of fruitcakes. If Owens wants their line, that's fine. It's probably worth a few thousand votes, half illegal ACORN folk. In NY it doesn't matter.

Homeland Security funding Fire Depts. ?????? It's always a stretch, when these are awarded, look @ the Border Patrol expansion, for the sole purpose of catching "terrorists" to date none have been caught by them, just illegal aliens, Look at the Jeff. Co. Sheriff's Dept. Homeland $ecurity bought a Boston Whaler for guarding the waters. Pure Waste of Money.

And as usual, the man isn't smart enough to remain civil. Well Sir, if you think you're a reasonable alternate, uncontrolled rage and profanity, coupled with an inability to carry on a conversation with opposition, then by all means, run again.

Now, try to respond with substance. Please, no profanity Dannie. Now that Owens has the WFP endorsement, as most all 'cept you knew would happen in the long run, will you carry on with your criticism of cross-endorsements? Or was this something that just upset you when Republicans partook?

Calm down. Simple question.

Danny M. Francis (Eyepublius) said...

I believe "third parties" should nominate their own candidates and offer a wide-open field to the voters...

The current two-party $y$tem, per $e i$ $hot. (got it not)?

Pretty understated response, considering how talkative you were when it was a Republican doin' the deed. Typical.

Selective indignation.
But no profanity.
Thanks Dan.

Danny M. Francis (Eyepublius) said...

7:16 -- had ACORN not popped to the surface, Dede would have sought and readily accepted the WFP endorsement, I assure you.

You're welcome.

So now your story is Dede WOULD HAVE accepted the endorsement had things worked out differently? So there is no inconsistancy in your position as a mindless party line robot? Therefore you have nothing more to say about it.

Got it, Dan. I understand, Sir.
Roger on that.
