Jumping Ship?

Some may liken these moves to the Titanic.

In an independent poll has Hoffman in a dead heat with Owens.

House Republicans are welcoming Hoffman with open arms to caucus with them.

Democrats can't figure out who to attack, which is actually quite funny, but currently they are going after Hoffman like he is the front runner.

Big finish for Hoffman coming to Watertown or is that Rich or is it Big and Rich...anyway it is a major rally.

RNC Chair Michael Steele is taking a hands off approach to the GOP candidate.

Former Governor George Pataki has reportedly endorsed Hoffman tonight at a Conservative Party function.

Statement from Governor George E. Pataki
As someone personally engaged in the way of life in the Adirondacks and Northern New York, I’m deeply concerned about the course of our nation and the outcome of the election in the 23rd Congressional District.
Simply put, we cannot afford to give another vote to Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid we cannot afford another vote for higher taxes, we cannot afford another vote for government run health care and we absolutely cannot afford another vote to take away from hard working men and women the right to secret ballot.
That is why tonight, I’m proud to endorse Doug Hoffman, a Republican, running on the Conservative line for Congress in the 23rd Congressional District.
Doug Hoffman will stand up to Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid. He will fight for all the residents of northern New York. He will fight for our proud servicemen and women at Fort Drum, our dairy farmers in Lowville and our manufacturers in Plattsburgh.
As a businessman, and as a life-long resident of the North Country Doug Hoffman understands the need to lower taxes on working families, the need to stand tall against terror and he won’t back phony stimulus programs that fail to create the jobs we need and leaves a mountain of debt to our children.
When elected to Congress Doug will work to reduce our taxes, he will stand tall against those who despise our freedoms and he will be a vigilant stalwart against those who would substitute government programs for individual initiative.
And Doug Hoffman can win.
I urge all the voters of the 23rd Congressional District – Republican Democrat, Independent and Conservative to come out and vote for Doug Hoffman for Congress.
If it ain't the Titanic then the deck chairs are certainly being arranged like it!

If the Siena poll results are similar to today's poll then NY-23 is home to a huge conservative movement.

Who else can endorse Dugout Doug and still come out smelling like the proverbial rose (when he loses) in the long list of prominent conservatives?

I caught him at the only live debate on channel 9 that the voters will see and his performance was less than stellar. He lacks any real intellectual depth on most important critical issues. He seems uncomfortable while answering questions as he searches for a good response. He seems to be at a loss of words in his responses other than his use of weak and standard sound bites that have no depth or meaning. He is out of his league.

So, with all the heavy hitters in this corner, and if he loses, what does that say about those heavy hitters and their support/judgment? That question is important if anyone believes his endorsements by those heavy hitters are important.

Place your bets.

George Pataki a conservative? Is that a joke?

Is this the same Pataki who gave NY the highest combined state and local tax burden? Who left office with upstate an economic bsket case? Who claims he's against the stimulus but lobbied for a federal bailout of the state after 9/11? Who did his best to take away Second Amendment rights all in an attempt to woo anti-gun downstate voters? Who was an ardent environmentlist implementing massive land purchases for the Adirondack Park which in effect decimated logging and paper mills again all in an attempt to get downstate votes?

Pataki governed as a Liberal Republican and no amount of spin, endrosements, speeches, etc. will change that fact.

Pataki is a phony Conservative who fits right in with other phonies like Conservative State Chairman Mike Long and St. Law. Co. Chair Henry Ford. Of course, Hoffman is a another phony who pledged not to run on a third party if he didn't get the GOP nomination. Can you trust someone who would lie like that? I can't.

We real conservative Republicans will wage war on the phonies who run the NYS Conservative Party and the bogus Republicans like King George Pataki who along with Al D'Amato and Joe Bruno killed the NYS Republican Party.

We're elephants after all, and we have real looooong memories. Look out Mike, George, et al, we're coming for you right after Owens wins this seat.

Because, again, Hoffman can't win!!

people like Pataki and his ilk rely on the exceptionally short memories of a dull-witted voting public who can't even tell you where they were 3 days ago, unless AI or DWTS was on.

From NRCC Chairman Pete Sessions to former Gov. George Pataki to former Mayor Rudy Giuliani,
Republicans are quickly abandoning their nominee, Assemblywoman Dede Scozzafava, and backing Hoffman in a last-ditch effort to keep former Rep. John McHugh's seat in GOP hands and, perhaps more importantly, deny the Obama administration a much-needed political victory.

Read More Here

This race with all the national hype focus, etc. and the so-called demise of Dede under this race's conditions, etc., could provide fodder in the long run to see the GOP no longer a viable party UNLESS one subscribes to the harsh, far right wing... and we all know who's on the side...

* Boy, oh boy, what a turn of events from this district to the impact of the GOP's future.

MORE BAD NEWS FOR THE GOP: are you listening?

More Bad News for the GOP

We need a strong, focused GOP and a strong, focused DEM party to sustain our political structure and a strong third party would help – NOT the GOP in-house fighting like this race displays that is slowly destroying that party ...

The rabid crap from outsiders and those out of touch with reality and lots and lots of money are the curse we have to endure ... that's the problem.

Q: What happened to “We, the People?”

A: They were bought off.

IV, Hoffman himself won't make a difference.Owens's election won't make a difference, Dedie's election won't make a difference. Unless you are one who is happy, pleased and excited by the current political atmosphere and stand in awe over the pols in Albany and Washington, members of BOTH parties. There is only one candidate who will make all the bosses pause and re-think their message, Hoffman. That's why he gets my vote.

I'm with you, 4:10. Owens and Dede will just continue with the taxing and spending. They will mouth all the right stuff, green energy, employment, health care, fair share, grow jobs, bs. They will both continue to tax and spend. We have to try Mr Hoffman. I don't care if he isn't the best speaker. I want someone who will try something different. If nothing more, the Donkeys and the Elephants will both be mad. That's good for the rest of us.

I heard that and can't say as I give a hoot.I am a firm believer in what I do on my own property is my business as long as my neighbor don't mind. As long as no toxins are being burned I can't see how they can make a charge stick. We will likely find out pretty soon on this braincramp some politician had.I burn every friday the junk of the week it's done for this week.

I'm with you, 12:40. I'll be burning as usual, trying to save money from the hauling experience. That law will be enforced much like the cell phone law. And even if you pay a fine once in a while it will be cheaper than bagging and hauling all the extra paper.

Another NYC Dem law. What's one more?
