Overhaul

The Scozzafava campaign has not exactly been a text book stellar campaign.

The candidate has been underfunded from the get go and this blog has consistently preached about getting earned media, getting the candidate into print newsrooms, in TV studios and getting a presence on the internet talking about the issues.

The Owens campaign served up red meat on a platter - "Invisi-Bill" - they loaded the campaign gun and all the Scozzafava campaign had to do was fire away.

But, the publicity the Scozzafava campaign received yesterday is NOT the earned media they needed; it is the last thing a campaign needs - campaign workers becoming distractions.

Scozzafava had enough to worry about with Hoffman and his minions on the attack 24/7, lacking any credible campaign of their own to run, except that "I am not Dede." Now, the Scozzafava campaign has ignited the far right media that has heretofore been somewhat passively (except RedState) following the campaign.

As if Scozzafava's campaign did not have enough to worry about, now they have:
Michelle Malkin
RedState
William Kristol & The Weekly Standard
The Wall Street Journal
The National Review
and Fox News.

This is the headache the candidate did not need heading into the final weeks. In the wake of yesterday's events these media outlets will become more persistent.

This campaign has been seriously, seriously mismanaged and the candidate needs to take the reins heading into the homestretch.

"Hi Dede. Congratulations and the best of luck in your candidacy. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help. Doug." And he accuses DeDe of flip flopping?? The man is a pathological liar. But hey, he's anti-abortion so he's alright by me!!

You post, in part:

“As if Scozzafava's campaign did not have enough to worry about, now they have:

Michelle Malkin

RedState

William Kristol & The Weekly
Standard

The Wall Street Journal

The National Review

and Fox News.”

By posting about these "outlets" _ not really "news" outlets per se, but rabid ultra-rightwing agencies and mouth pieces you underscore what people like me and millions of others say every single day: "The FOX types are the real danger to our system." I strongly believe in FREDOM OF SPEECH and THE PRESS... but that's not what they practice under that banner.

There is nasty (Malkin), narrow-minded (Kristol), and all mostly tied to Rupert Murdoch (News Corp and FOX owner who also owns the WSJ and they appear on FOX more than any nitwork)... that is the picture.

They want control, power and influence and they don't care whose body or campaign they kill and/ruin along the way.

They have one agenda: ratings and money. And, they do have a huge, huge power voice (tons of MONEY)...

And, all of them are very, very vicious and as I said, a danger to our political system. Why? If they were that focused on “change,” then how come none of them ever run for office and try to make change the old-fashioned way – from the inside out?

The DNC, DCCC, NYC, NYS, and White House machines (all outsiders)(run mostly by Rahm Emanuel) have made /conducted and basically controlled/run Owens' campaign.

The RNC, RNCC and most other GOP arms HAVE abandoned Dede ...

That's the huge diff.

She needs to start by overhauling her own house. Getting rid of Matt Burrns and Mike Backus would be the best thing for her. Backus can't even get Oswego County to support her.

"Hi Dede, Congratulations and the best of luck in your candidacy. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help. Doug." Talk about a flip-flop. You Hoffman people thump your chest about your virtuous anti abortion, anti gay- marriage hero. Wouldn't it also be nice if he were a man of his word. If he can lie about this because Mike Long got to him, what would he do when he hits DC. No priciples. At least with Scozzafava you know what you're getting, and it's a lot better than that hollow man.

Good grief man you don't think a fibber would fit right in in DC? Besides I am sure he supported DD before the C party picked him up.I am sure like the rest of us he was to chose the lesser of two evils (liberals) like the rest of us. Fortunately we now have a choice thanks to the conservative party of NYS. Saving Amerika starts with Doug.

Amen 8:29, in fact we should get rid of both the Democratic and Republican parties. They just get in the way and gum up the works. After all we Conservatives know what is best for Amerika. In fact maybe we could just do away with this Congress thing altogether, and have our Konservative Party run the country. That way, we wouldn't have to put up with other people's stupid ideas about freedom and such. A much more efficient model than what we currently have. Mike Long for Supreme Ruler!!!!

Yup, Dan believes in freedom of the press as long as they don't ask tough questions. Dan, why do you now feel the need to follow all your posts with this "I believe in freedom" crap? Freedom has nothing to do with your bias. You just go nuts about a new source who doesn't act like good little folk and kisses the ring like the others. You're just not comfortable thinking for yourself.
