Renzi For Senate

Watertown Attorney David Renzi has announced his candidacy for the New York State Senate seat in the 48th District.

Dave Renzi versus Darrel Aubertine will be a competitive race where Renzi is probably favored out of the gate. Dave is young, energetic, and smart person, and along with his family, very popular in Jefferson County. His father Eugene Renzi has a long history of civic service to this community and a well respected Doctor. Dave has a distinguished law practice and resides in the town of Watertown with his wife Jessica, an intelligent former Miss New York State, who is no stranger to advocating for other's needs.

LATER ADD.

The Daily Politics Blog...probably one of the most astute political blogs in New York State politics had this to say

"Freshman Sen. Darrel Aubertine, who is arguably the Democrats' most marginal candidate as they seek to wrest the majority from GOP hands this fall, has a Republican opponent: Watertown attorney David Renzi."

And the Capital Confidential Blog of the Albany Times Union.

Go Dave. Go!
Aubertine's lack of commitment to area sportsmen and his lack of backbone to stand up against the ultra-liberal Democratic Senate Minority will make him vulnerable. Aubertine just isn't Senatorial material.

Dave is a good guy. I was elated to hear that he's running. Aubertine seems to be inneffectual.

Run, Dave, run!

After his failures on JCC, delivering school aid to our districts and looking out for sportsmen's interests -- not to mention his shameful self-dealing on wind power and efforts to put his family on the state payroll -- we can't afford two years of Darrel Aubertine!

GREAT NEWS!

Dede didn't want it?

Did her party switching comment cost her?

Senator Renzi does have a nice ring to it. Sounds like it could even fit in downstate. Staten Island, Suffolk, Nassau.

Aubertine's forgetfullness on who voted him into office come to mind here.

You have our support Dave! GO GO GO! Aubertine will lose this time, he has continued to crap on the very people who got him elected! Dave for senate all the way!

Dave is a quality candidate. He has the qualities that we should all be demanding of our elected officials Integrity, honesty and a true leadership ability.

Dave you have my vote.

Thanks to the IV man for breaking this great news!!!!!!

Things happen for a reason..... now that the north country has gotten to know who Darrel Aubertine is, Dave can not lose!

I thought Renzi should have been the Assembly candidate against Aubertine six years ago but Sen. Jim Wrong, his piss-boy Scott Gray and space cadet Patti Ritchie screwed that whole thing up. That's how we got stuck with Dumb Darrel in the first place.

Dave, there's a whole crew in St. Lawrence County waiting to help you. And we're not the ones who ruined the Barclay campaign, either. The Albany boneheads did that.

Please give us a call, Dave!

It is clear to me that spin is spinning. Here we go again.... Aubertine this, Aubertine that.... I know Senator Aubertine well enough to know that he is an honest and genuine guy. I am a sportsman, and a Republican and I think he is doing fine. For god's sake, he has been in the Senate for less than three months, negative political rhetoric is just that. As Mr. Renzi enters the race, I hope he is ready to have his "Honesty, and true Leadership abilities" constantly bastardized, and his excellent reputation and character in constant question. Mr. Renzi is a good man, and so isn't Mr. Aubertine. The political machine is the problem. Good Luck Dave.

I bet aubertine is a good and genuine guy. Too bad he is trying to railroad gigantic wind towers on the shores of the only asset we have. HE IS GOING TO HAVE THEM ON HIS PROPERTY THEREFORE MAKE MONEY ON THEM. WHILE EVERYWHERE YOU LOOK YOU WILL SEE THESE INDUSTRIAL GENERATORS DESTROYING OUR OPEN SPACES. I CANNOT BELIEVE WE NOW HAVE AN ABSOLUTE FOOL AS OUR STATE SENATOR. I WOULD BE STUNNED IF HE HAS A COLLEGE DEGREE. THATS THE HIGHEST OFFICE IN OUR COMMUNITY FOLKS! HIS COMMERCIALS MADE IT SEEM THAT BEING A FARMER SOMEHOW MAKES YOU QUALIFIED TO DEAL WITH THE SHARKS IN ALBANY!!! we need this guy gone yesterday. I'm embarrassed about this guy. If it was time for a dem, why not Mike Schell? At least he's a pro. Why not former JCC Pres. John Deans? These are people capable of actually doing the work of a state senator. Think Mike Schell would have hired his sister and filled his staff with morons and wackos? PLEASE DAVE! WIN! AUBERTINE SHOULD NOT BE REPRESENTING ANYONE AT ANY LEVEL OF POLITICAL OFFICE. HE SHOULDN'T EVEN BE JUDGING FLOATS AT THE FRENCH FESTIVAL.

WE HAVE PLENTY OF PEOPLE COMPLAINING ABOUT DARREL HAVING WIND POWER ON HIS LAND BUT IT SOUNDS LIKE SOUR GRAPES TO ME. HOW DO YOU PEOPLE ENJOY PAYING 4.00$ PLUS FOR GAS. wHO SAYS RENZI IS A GREAT GUY. HE MAKES A LIVING OFF OF OTHER PEOPLES MISERY IN COURT AND AT TIMES IM SURE LIES TO THEM AND FOR THEM. HOW MUCH SPORTSMAN DO YOU THINK IS IN RENZI? WE HAVE NOT SEEN HIS PLATFORM YET, BUT PEOPLE ARE WILLING TO TOOT HIS HORN. WE ARE IN AN ERA OF CHANGE YET YOU PEOPLE WANT TO ELECT ANOTHER RICH OUT OF TOUCH WITH THE AVERAGE PERSON LAWYER. HE AND OTHER RICH PEOPLE LIKE HIM ARE THE TRUE LEACHES OF THE WORLD BY LIVING OFF THE HARD WORK OF REAL PEOPLE.

SEEMS LIKE A ONE SIDED WEB SITE TO ME. WHAT IS YOUR ANGLE BY TRYING TO SHOVE RENZI DOWN OUR THROATS. MAYBE THERE IS SOME ONE ELSE BETTER THAN EITHER OF THEM. AS FAR AS THE WIND POWER GOES I WOULD BE HAPPY TO HAVE IT ON MY LAND AND GET PAYED FOR IT, BUT I SUPPOSE SENATOR AUBERTINE IS A BAD PERSON CAUSE OF THIS. RATHER THAN FIND OUT WHAT RENZI'S STANCE IS ON THE TOPICS THAT CONCERN US THIS WEBSITE WOULD RATHER TRY TO BOONDOGGLE US INTO THERE VIEW POINTS. THE PEOPLE ARE SMARTER THAN YOU GIVE CREDIT FOR. WHO SAYS HIS FATHER WAS A GREAT DOCTOR, OR HIS WIFE IS A VANTASTICLY SMART GAL.WHY WOULD HIS WIFES LOOKS OR BRAIN EVEN ENTER INTO ALL OF THIS. I VOTE FOR THE CANDIDATE, NOT THERE FAMILY. STICK WITH THE CANDIDATES FACTS AND STOP BLOWING SMOKE.

Mr. Renzi does not seem to be any sportsman to me. Does he hunt or fish? Whats his stance on guns? Why would I care that his father is a doctor or his wife was a Miss usa contender? Tell me who he will fight for , let me know what his past is and his goals are, not what his family likes on there pan cakes. I want to know the facts, give me the facts. Does he know what the average citizen has to deal with in these times or will he be just another idiot that cateres to the rich. I hope he realizes the scrutiny he and his family will be enduring.

I am tired of politics, the name calling and slander that goes on everyday when there is an election year. The last thing the North Country needs is another drawn out divisive battle for this seat. Enough already. Dave Renzi is likely a good man, but I agree.... who gives a shit who is father or wife is? Questioning Aubertine's education? Seriously? I would bet the overwhelming majority of the north country has a similiar education. Arguments like this are ridiculous! Aubertine is a fine man as well and his record in Senate is no greater than Renzi so ... How can we even gauge his impact in three months. This is all about Republican Democrat Albany Politics and the shift of power.

Remember wind power plants were put up all over the Tug while the Senate had a Republican seated. Aubertine has nothing to do with whether wind is captured in Cape Vincent..... any more than on Wolf Island. Bitter Bitter Bitter.....

Three months in the senate gives Aubertine a record. As an assemblyman he touts sweeping ethics reforms and then as a Senator he is one of the first to violate the law. Begs the question if he ever bothered to read what he was voting on, or even worse, could he comprehend it. Then his staff trys to take the blame for this mess. Now thats leadership isn't it.

ATV trails closed down. You may love them or hate them, but a Senator that takes three weeks to form an opinion. Is that leadership?

And one that hits home with me is the snowmobile fund theft. He votes for a budget that takes over a million dollars out of the snowmobile trail fund. That is money that myself and others who register snowmobiles pay. It was finally a user fee that benefited the user without taxing the non users. Now this registration fee is just another hidden tax. The budget is adopted the money is gone and Aubertine writes a letter asking for the money to be returned. Once again to little to late, Obviously Aubertine or his staff didn't read the budget and bother to understand its impacts. That certainly is not a sign of leaderhip.

This election should be about leadership, and if it is, Aubertine will be gone.

I will be voting for Dave Renzi.

David is an avid sportsman and hunter and he is a member of a well respected hunting club with Al Smith, Bob Boice, etc. They are not just hunters though, they are active in land management, they respect the land.

I think it is too soon to narrow our minds on one candidate. Other than throwing his hat in the ring and a few remarks at that time, no one really even has an idea of what his platform is, or what he would do differently.

These web posts are all just full of "knee jerk run the guy who is in office out of office now" rhetoric.

I will be happy to weigh Renzi against Aubertine once I know more about them than we I know now. But it is premature now to cast a vote, and even worse, very close minded.

I'll bet you that Renzi is not riding a white horse either. But than again... I could be wrong.

Dave is a good guy but until I see a platform and compare the two I can't make an informed decision. I have to wonder who could unless you're forced to vote one way or another? If that is the case why vote in the first place? I do wonder what happened to Deedee??? Could it be another women was cast to the side to run a male?

"If that is the case why vote at all."

My apologies to that "gun nut" Chuck Heston; but, you can pry my vote from my "cold dead hands". I am going to vote no matter what. Whether I vote for a Republican or Democrat or a person on row 10, I will make a decision.
Politicians take great effort purging people's votes as it is. Vote! Please don't stay home!
