The Empire Strikes Back

The Democratic Senate Campaign Committee is striking back like they are an innocent bystander in this Albany debacle.

Fact is the Democrats were caught flat footed on the Senate floor and people recognize it, get over it and get on with your work.

Phooey!

Phooey is absolutely correct, IV ...

I have posted and spoken out about this - but the worst is yet to come:

Wait until all Senators go back home and tell the folks how hard they have tried to end this crap and plead for more time to "get things done."

Some of them may even resort to having a primary opponent or two; they may break down in tears as they raise millions to stay in power and do what, nothing?

Our own Sen. Darrel, need I remind anyone, said he was willing at one point to join the GOP to get a few "special things he wanted done."

Seems I recall that's what Sen. Pedro Espada, Jr. said, too, and look where that got us?

Sen. Darrel is flat out wrong and so are the 61 others ... I say kick them all out and start fresh. Then things might work the way we need them; and not the way they want them!

That's my 30-second TV spot for next year.

And Dan wonders why he can't win an election.

Earth to Dan. It's because you have beliefs and standards that go beyond party loyalty. Most everyone left in NY does not share your values.

Vote Dan.

I forget what party he's in.
Could'nt care less.

Party loyalty?

If you mean lockstep, shut up, put up, take a seat in the back and be quiet, then that is not my cup of tea ... I know what loyalty means, and I know myself - hey, I was a Marine for over 20 years, give me some credit, okay?

I am always loyal, on my TERMS ... and not on how others want to define me or try to define me.

If you meant I disrespect my party affiliation, then you are wrong there, too.

But if you mean I am very outspoken and opinionated: yep, that's me. I also believe a lot of GOPers feel that same way ... they know when to rally around the party and flag ... and that my friends should be an individual decision and call -- otherwise, we ain't Americans no mo' ...

IMHO.

Shame on Newzjunky and this headline and statement from Sen. Darrel...

Headline:

NYS State Supreme Court Justice Joseph Teresi handed Gov. David Paterson a significant victory this afternoon, ruling that each and every member of the deadlocked state Senate - all 62 of them - must convene at the same time in the chamber when the governor calls an extraordinary session.

Judge Slams all 62 Senators

Aubertine Statement:

Newzjunky posts this statement from Sen. Darrel:

"This ruling represents an opportunity to come into the chamber and end this stalemate.
Judge Teresi’s decision would put us in the chamber to protect more than a quarter of a million jobs tied to the Power for Jobs program. I welcome this ruling because it means that what is best for every New Yorker can finally get done. Appealing this valid court decision shows that for some, this has never been about the livelihoods and needs of the people we represent, but the individual desire for power by a few individuals. We need to get back to work."
— Senator Darrel J. Aubertine

That's a political statement, a cop out, a ruse, a charade, trickery, even.

Sen. Darrel was willing to join the GOP and get things done on his narrow way of doing things on his special projects ...

I have to wonder what Sen. Darrel would say if Sen. Pedro Espada, Jr. actually registered as a Republican and completely changed the balance of power - run for Congress, join them, too?

I do not want to seem harsh, but this Aubertine PR game ain't gonna work - not this time, right?

Naw Dan, I was again complimenting you on independent thought. Party liners will have none of it, and that is why you will never win an election.

We're a one party state now, Dan. Either get on the bandwagon, or quit running for political office.
Bums, criminals, govment implooees, teachers, fools, minorities, transgenders, all agree. If you have a label next to your name, vote donkey.

I'm kind of surprised that NJ would allow him to write it that way. Pretty self serving line of bs if you ask me. Maybe NJ is a big supporter. Most media is.

Anon 8:35... I knew you were and that post was not a blast at you - it was a big blast at a very small, moving target ... I guess I missed?

I don't know what it takes to win around here, Lord knows I've a tried just about everything: honesty, straightforwardness, focus on problem solving and issues, and all strongly based on my character, which I think is very good, but -- all to no avail.

I guess it boils down to personality and likeability factors, but then again I've had some very reputable GOP folks tell me they'd vote for me, if I were NOT a DEM ... which I always found odd... so maybe I should change parties?

My Mom was a lifetime Republican ... and my Dad was the labor DEM. So, I'm a hybrid, I guess? LOL

I don't know what you are, Dan. It seems like in today's climate everyone talks about the need to shake the party line thinking, but more and more it becomes a rarity.

I'll risk the easy set up for the naysayers, but do you realize how unusual it is for someone to talk issues? I think you're nuts on some of them, but you are not bound by party label. There aren't many left who can say that.

It's a one party state, soon to be country. All the idiots have been taught by government schools. No thinking necessary. Certainly none encouraged. As John Kennedy should have said, it's what your country can do for you. We all think this is free. It may be, but we aren't going to be much longer.

"Phooey" is a good place to put this thought.

If anyone reading this finds the person who stole that bench from a grave at Brookside Cemetery, please post their name here, right after calling the police of course.

As.holes.

Anon 6:32> Well-stated, but I strongly believe and have always believed that one cannot sell out their principles... mine are rock-solid; not harsh or stubborn from my way of thinking, but rational and sound and logical... that how I was raised and grew up and became educated.

I have only a few rock-solid political views that I will not change on: I will always support the people... I will never take outside money... I want support from those I represent and those who rely on me... not the fat cats in two states away, who want favors for their dough...

Money is important, I know that - hell, who doens't know that... but NOT outside money for outside favors.

That's mainly why I'm on the sidelines watching and running rather than serving.

The power brokers and 'King makers' don't believe that - when I always wanted to run, the first Q they ask me: "How much money do you have or how much can you raise," rather than, we think you can do the job - how can WE help you win?"

Alas...
