Called Out

This video is great! The Great One's administration is finally called out on the claim for open and transparent government and it is identified for what it is - controlled!

Chip Reid from CBS and Hearst news service reporter Helen Thomas put WH spokesman Robert Gibbs on the spot.

Did you ever think you would see pigs fly? Watch how integrity and freedom of the press overtake the usual lovefest between Barry O and the media.

Another report on the issue.

“What the hell do they think we are, puppets?” Thomas said. “They’re supposed to stay out of our business. They are our public servants. We pay them.”

Thomas said she was especially concerned about the arrangement between the Obama Administration and a writer from the liberal Huffington Post Web site. The writer was invited by the White House to President Obama’s press conference last week on the understanding that he would ask Obama a question about Iran from among questions that had been sent to him by people in Iran.

“When you call the reporter the night before you know damn well what they are going to ask to control you,” Thomas said.

“I’m not saying there has never been managed news before, but this is carried to fare-thee-well–for the town halls, for the press conferences,” she said. “It’s blatant. They don’t give a damn if you know it or not. They ought to be hanging their heads in shame.”

Hey Frogman, now that your back helping us out. What do you think of a story like this? You're a champion of the concept of "unbiased" media. Whatcha got to say?

Let me guess.

It didn't happen.
Bush did it too.
It's ok for reporters to set up stuff like this.
Or how bout,
So what?

Go with the "so what". It'll work with most all donkeys.

Where the hell did they get the idea that they could control the Press? From Ari Fleischer and George Bush?

Chip and Helen have access to the White House Machinery EVERY DAMN DAY. Now he is WHINING that someone ELSE will be given a chance at the front row seats at a forum. TOO FREAKING BAD ! ! !

Chip is biting the hand that feeds him, for a dubious gain. Anything said at this event will be covered ad nauseum anyway. Does he think that only HE can phrase a tricky, double sided question, with no apparent upsided response?

Sounds a lot like the gloomsday mindset of our own Resident Key-board Minstrel.

I noted hidden on the back page of the WDT NNY section a small paragraph about John B. Johnson, Jr., now a non-voting DANC board member, about to become "active voting DANC board member."

I have a problem with that in the area of conflict of interests ...

Newspaper editor on public board that expends public monies who can vote on those expenditures and then report about them in anyway he chooses (and I'd suspect in a way that he, the voting board member would choose to spin the vote or action or whatever the issue were)?

I don't want City Council to approve that appointment ... a huge conflict in my view.

But, we'll see... I'm sure there are those who don't or won't see it that way (mostly out of respect for the Johnson's or his newspaper or the GOP) - but, I do; those are NOT good enough reasons for me.

Fire away.
