Conservatives Chime In

National powerhouse blog REDSTATE gives a pretty good endorsement to Congressional candidate Josh Lynch.

This comes less than a week after the same blog ripped Dede Scozzafava for her moderate positions and delved into her business background.  Now, you can take issue with Scozzafava's moderate policy positions - but her business background - well, that simply illustrates how difficult it is to create jobs in New York and the challenge employers face to keep people employed in a business unfriendly state.

Now back to Lynch, he has a promising future ahead of him. He is young, intelligent, articulate and principled. As said before, if he does not make the cut this time, watch for him in the future. Also, he would be a great asset on a team for the candidate for the 23rd Congressional district or possibly a candidate for the 118th Assembly district.

Read REDSTATE here.

p.s. hat tip to RS for mentioning and linking to PIV.

Lynch should run for 118th Assembly district. Duh. He could go to Albany as a lone "conservative crusader" and attract national attention. Then IF the dems win the congressional seat Lynch would be challenger.

Doheny is the guy now.

That would be better than what we have now.

You may like the conservative perspective of Lynch, but sadly the district has changed to the point that someone with a strong right view will never get elected again. Look at the front runners in the House election right now: Dede, who is practically a democrat, and Doheny, who I would classify as a moderate republican (more of a libertarian really). The days of the far right running the North Country are over. If he runs in any kind of wide election, he will lose. It is sad, but it is what it is. The district is shifting.

Both parties need fresh faces and more young people... good for him

The "far right" never ran the north country. That's a myth that has become fashionable of late, but has no basis in fact. We've always loved our government here in NNY. We've always loved high taxes, compared to other regions, and we've always loved programs as well as government employment. The only way we can begin to admit reality, that we're government lovers, is to paint this inaccurate picture of the past. The supposed contrast makes us more comfortable with our political positions. People falsely claim that we used to be "far right". We're just starting to admit the truth, now and then. We've become far left. Look at every level budget we deal with. We spend like fools on everything. This is fine, but let's not lie and pretend things were all that different in the past. We've been fools for a long time. We're now on the third generation of young people that have been forced to leave the area. That's what you get when you "create" so many jobs with heavy handed taxation and regulation.

I hope Josh can pull it off this time around. The time for good people is *now*!

Do people really think liberal Republicans are going to turn out the base for a special election? Special elections are won on turnout. With a 47,000 registration advantage for Republicans, Lynch is the man to turn out the voters who will make a difference. For Lynch the time is now!

I think if it were an Aubertine vs. Lynch race I would move out of the dustrict. Are we trying to be the laughing stock of the nation? You really think those two are the best we can come up with? You have got to be kidding me. What a joke.

Yes, the Aubertine-Lynch election would perfectly illustrate that we actually are the clueless country bumpkins the nation thinks we are. Why can't we seem to put a smart, well informed person on the ticket for once. Doheny in the rep side. Or maybe McGrath on the dem side. Someone please!!!!

9:42-as an interested observer, I suggest that two "imports" actually reinforce the perception of a clueless north country. At least Aubertine ran the gantlet without a sponsor such as D Barclay, for instance. Support Francis if you want a fireball. No winner is going to take over Washington as a freshman anyway. There IS a pecking order, after all.

dmf-are you either a fresh face or a youngster?

DC may have a pecking order as you say, but one thing I would encourage the voters to examine:

1. No DEM has served there in 150 years and especially a DEM like me (a fireball yes I am; but I am a reasonable fireball; one who has always in over 40 years of service but the country, the people and our way of life first).

2. I don't and won't ever "go along to get along" -- ask those who know me and have served with or worked with me (just don't ask those who think they know me).

3. I have the skills, qualities, experience, ability, and readiness to serve ... I am sure about that aspect.

Getting there to serve: well now, that's a horse of a different color, isn't it?

Give me an honest, open and fair look - the rest swirling around this race it just fluff and stuff.

Danny,

You've already had your "honest, open and fair look" and you got your ass handed to you.

Oh wait, it was Newt Gingrich who cost you that race, wasn't it? {chuckle}

We have to try something different. I don't think Aubertine belongs in Washington at this time. Nothing against him, but I hope he stays where he is right now. If Dede were elected, I don't think she would be noticed. Lynch I could support. I view him as a counter to the madness going on at the Federal level. Someday, these people will have to come to their senses. Lynch would be in a good position to lead that awakening. But in his case, he is too young. That leaves Dan. Dan is experienced, energetic, informed, and most important to me, he isn't so partisan that he can't or won't think for himself. Ten years ago, I thought that might have been true, but recently I've been convinced otherwise. I disagree strongly with many of his positions, but the man has integrity. I'm voting for him.
