Here we go again with the "overhauling of Social Security".

"......that he will balance the federal budget by the end of his first term by curbing wasteful spending and overhauling entitlement programs, including Social Security, his advisers told Politico."

"McCain advisers admit that the document is a repackaging of previous policies, without dramatic new initiatives."

McCain promises to balance budget

You fell for it in 2000, you fell for it in 2004 and perhaps you will fall for it again. Suckers!

Thank god better minds prevailed and we did not fall for the George Bush "invest in wall street instead of Social Security ruse".

Balance the budget in 4 years. Wait, wasn't it in balance 7 years ago? In fact wasn't it in surplus? How did it become out of balance?

I don't get it. John McCain says he will "reserve all savings from winning the Iraq and Afghanistan operations (he doesn't say war)in the fight against Islamic Extremists for reducing the deficit".

Where is the line item for Iraq and Afghanistan Wars? The money to fight those wars is being borrowed from China. Will we apply borrowed Chinese money to lower the deficit - how does that lower the deficit? Is McCain saying those wars will be over in 4 years?

Controlling spending - you really want us to fall for that one again? Control spending like Reagan did...Like G.W. is doing? Do you think Americans are complete idiots?

Take back earmarks? Yeah right. Do you mean the earmarks that are used to fund Ft. Drum and other military operations?

Eliminate broken government programs? Which programs exactly? Who decides whether they are broken or not?

Addressing speculative pricing of oil? That really makes me chuckle. Republicans in favor of capitalism and free markets except when they are not.

Giving every family a $5000 tax credit to purchase health insurance. Where does that money come from?

How do you balance the budget in 4 years? Here is the key....fix, reform and/or modify social security, medicare and medicaid.

I John McCain, a natural born Panamanian, will screw up the
American economy some more and encourage people to invest in the country of my birth by promoting CAFTA!
