The New Yorker

The cover of The New Yorker is creating quite a stir.
Read Here but here is an excerpt

If it was meant to be provocative -- it succeeded. The cover of this week's New Yorker features Baack Obama in Muslim garb, with his gun-toting Afro-ed wife, an American flag burning in the fireplace.

It has already drawn laughs -- while being denounced by the Obama campaign, and by John McCain, and many Obama supporters.

The artists says it was merely meant to make fun of rightwing depictions of Obama and his wife.

I think I have a pretty good grip on where both the artist and editors were going with this one. "Let's throw every ridiculous wingnut smear about Obama we can think of into one over the top frame", basically. That said, I really don't think it's either enlightening, funny or helpful in any way.

This is a great score for the Republican campaign as their racist pundits will publish this for the next days or weeks. They say a picture is worth a thousand words and of course the pundits and their ditto-head racists will see this as a confirmation of what Fox News has been hinting at all along, yet they won't bother to read the thousand words that it took the publication to explain their reasons for the "cartoon".

But, PIV passed it on to us because he found it so funny that it was necessary to repeat again, eh?

I agree with my Dem friends.....the American public is not capable of understanding staire which in this case is meant to discredit the critics of BHO.
We must reject and repudiate any art or prose desigend to stimulate thought especially if it in any way could be construed as denegrating the New Messiah.

When will there be a "satire" cover on John McCain and his multimillionaire trophy wife?

Most people understand satire and what the artist was saying. Most people, except you Scott Gray, and those like you who prefer to avoid substance in favor of attacks.
