A little background...SD 7 is on Long Island and is the district where Democrat Craig Johnson tipped over long time republican control there in a special election. The nine Senate districts on LI have long been a bastion of republicanism.
We've written earlier about new Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos (also a Long Islander)trying to bring SD 7 back into elephant country. The good thing for us upstate donkeys is that he might just blow all the available resources on that race and leave our upstate elephants broke.
It really is starting to play out that way:
The Republican Senate Campaign Committee gave Donno $355,000.
That means she only raised $45,000 on her own.
From that cash, supposedly raised on her own, $9500 is from Skelos' campaign fund.
And $500 came from the NRA.
Of the $400,000 she HAD, she now has $45,000 cash on hand.
Donno, or whoever is running her campaign, blew $300,000 on those two really ineffective ads.
The proof of my Skelos theory is that about the $355,000 from the Republican Committee came after Skelos became Majority Leader.
Now hasn't Donno been saying in her ads that she isn't a "typical politician" and says Albany has a lot of problems?
The cash Donno got is FROM ALBANY.
(h/t to the nassaupolitics blog for the cash details)
