Her message last night was specific; it was about her experience as an executive and governing, that she has in depth knowledge of energy, and she can fulfill the aggressive role of the Vice Presidential candidate.
Sarah Palin came right out of the gate last readying herself for the battle that is ahead and put everyone on notice she will defend herself and her beliefs.
"I accept the challenge of a tough fight in this election… against confident opponents … at a crucial hour for our country."She spoke extensively about her experience governing in Alaska and during that portion of her speech she mixed in anecdotes of her everyday life as a hockey mom.
"I came to office promising to control spending - by request if possible but by veto if necessary."
"Our state budget is under control. We have a surplus. And I have protected the taxpayers by vetoing wasteful spending: nearly half a billion dollars in vetoes. We suspended the state fuel tax, and championed reform to end the abuses of earmark spending by Congress."And on her family she said,
"From the inside, no family ever seems typical.
That’s how it is with us.
Our family has the same ups and downs as any other … the same challenges and the same joys."
"I like those hockey moms. You know what they say is the difference between a hockey mom and a pit bull: lipstick."It was not long and then Sarah Palin started taking the good 'ol boys on the Democratic side to the woodshed and letting them know she will take it right back at them. She put a knife right in the heart of where Obama is having trouble relating to people, the blue collar community.
"I might add that in small towns, we don’t quite know what to make of a candidate who lavishes praise on working people when they are listening, and then talks about how bitterly they cling to their religion and guns when those people aren’t listening."She repeatedly took Obama to task on his actions or lack there of, on his rhetoric and all the pomp that he surrounds himself with to impress himself including the seal he uses for podiums.
"In politics, there are some candidates who use change to promote their careers. And then there are those, like John McCain, who use their careers to promote change."
"They’re the ones whose names appear on laws and landmark reforms, not just on buttons and banners, or on self-designed presidential seals."Sarah Palin had something to prove last night and it appears she did it, she will not flinch and that she is a person with whom the average American can relate.

So far the Republican National Convention has demonstrated that John McCain has fully embraced the Conservative Consciousness of the Party.
His challenge is to demonstrate that 72 is the new 50.
* Record debt, deficit spending, and foreign borrowing.
* Record Home foreclosures.
* Record Bank failures.
* Stock Market all over the place (except for the very, very well to do).
* Piss-poor treatment of WIA from the two wars.
* Resurge of the Taliban in Afghanistan (after MISSION ACCOMPLISHED speech).
* Out of control ILLEGAL immigration problem - not one mention.
Great speech, but "Where's the Beef?"
Change is about making correction, direction and not repeating the same old, same old crap = PROBLEM SOLVING...
She missed that mark by a country mile!
there was certainly no more substance in palin's speech than there was in biden's or obama's; yet sure enough, she made iv absolutely swoon! i was surprised by how downright mean she was. how on earth does she have the gall to mock obama's honorable work as a community organizer? is this what the republican party stands for?
Quite the speech by the West Wing ghost writers, and Palin gave an impressive delivery.
Perhaps they should consider her for Leno's replacement.
