Some Days You're Just Catnip

Some days you are the cat and other days just the catnip. It seems lately that I am the catnip and driving a few of the cats crazy.

Senator Aubertine is refusing to participate in the on line forum sponsored by Political IV and Danger Democrat, which allows each candidate to bring their message to the public. The basis of his refusal is the anonymity of Political IV; he will consent to an interview if the identity of the author of this blog is revealed.

Senator Aubertine's stance on this issue is unfortunate. This is not about me, it is not about this blog, it is about the candidates, the voters and the public discourse of the issues for the benefit of the public. As the old saying goes, the Senator is having a difficult time seeing the forest through the trees.

Danger Democrat and Political IV have employed a reputable, intelligent interviewer who was given guidelines and asked to develop his own questions and to be consistent and non-partisan with each candidate. Danger Democrat and Political IV are of opposite political ideology and are simply facilitating the forum in a bi-partisan manner and ensuring that it is fair to all involved while providing a venue to disseminate the information. This is not about either of us as individuals.

If tomorrow I decided to reveal my identity, as I have considered doing for some time now, what difference would it make in the forum? What difference would there be in the questions or answer of the candidates? What difference would there be in anything that is written on this blog? The answer to all the above is none!

As of this writing, Addie Jenne Russell and David Renzi have signed up to participate, we have not heard from Bobby Cantwell and Senator Aubertine has refused. Respectfully, I request Bobby Cantwell to respond and the Senator to reconsider.

Your points are well made -- what difference could it make who is going to post a pre-taped interview? Darrel's argument is like saying he won't speak to the media if newzjunky links to it. It's absurd.

It's more likely that Darrel's handlers are trying to keep his exposure at a minimum for fear he may say something on tape that could come back to bite him later in the campaign.

So much for accountability and openness. One of us, eh??

Kudos, IV, for permitting open comment on this. TF has locked his site, and won't let the people be heard.

Debate, Darrel, debate!

Kudos to DD and you IV. I see no reason for Sen. Aubertine not to participate. You are the excuse, not the reason.

I think there is a banner on Newzjunky. Results, not excuses.

Thank you to the candidates that have agreed to participate. Their candidacy's and the voters are better served by their participation.

Thank you again Ted and IV

I agree with Darrel - it's like a certain ANONYMOUS posting here - usually taking cheap shots, misrepresenting posts from others and just being plain nasty by twisting things to fit his/her agenda ...

If IV were known (or exposed as some say), so what? I'm not and never ashamed of my posts or words or thoughts or ideas in any forum.

Embarrassing 'cause he/she a GOP Party Loyalist, and can't be tainted with "Liberalism" or associated with "DEMS" - the low class of debaters, forum posters, or large percentage of this region?

LOL

Danny agreeing with Darrel, there is a suprise.

Aubertine is not right, he is afraid.

I can't wait to find out who the hack is that owns this blog.

I don't know who IV is, so I can't believe anything that is posted on this page.

Come to think of it, I never met Jude Seymour, either, so I guess the Waterton Times should be off limits for me too.

Well, Darrel has made my mind up now. It is ridiculous that he uses that excuse.
You all need to let the debate and the process go on. If Darrel doesn't participate it will clearly demonstrate that he does not have tough skin or broad shoulders. What kind of representative does that make?? Not one anyone should vote for!!

If debates are for the public's good and all that stuff, then why does it have to be one-sided (i.e., the candidate has to appear, answer and take the heat - which I support), but a "caller or note passer can address them from afar or as someone called Anonymous?"

Seems hardly open and fair to me.

Hasn't Darrel and Renzi already agreed to something like 8 debates. I wonder why Renzi is suddenly trying to back out of that agreement and get a venue more to his liking. Maybe it is because Darrel trounced him in the town hall forum. Renzi should just keep his word and do the agreed to debates.

Politics 101: Candidates who are behind in the polls always want more and more debates. And the losers always accuse the leaders of being scared, when really the leaders are just being smart.

Why would Darrel want to give a tape of himself to IV? So IV can anonymously edit and twist Darrels words to say whatever he wants them too. Without knowing who IV is, there is no one to be held accountable when IV hacks up what Aubertine says.
I am so sick of your bs argument that Aubertine is afraid to let the people hear where he stands. He has agreed to six debates with Dave Renzi in the format that Dave asked for. The candidates for President are only debating three times! The debates are streamed on the web for all to listen if thay cant make it there in person.
It sounds to me that all of Daves ads and mailers and spots on Jeff Grahams show arent giving him the numbers he is looking for, so he is begging for more debates. The act is a little desparate Dave.

To answer some of the comments posted here:

1. This venue was offered to the candidates for a taped interview to be put on the internet unedited.

2. No candidates are backing out of any previous agreements for debates, this was an unsolicited offer to all campaigns.

3. This is a joint venture for the benefit of the voters by two blogs who hold ideological opposite opinions.

4. Political IV as well as Danger Democrat are independent of all campaigns.

5. Darrel can choose to accept or decline this method to reach voters it is his choice.

6. I am afraid to say who I am because then I will have no credibility -- less credibilty even than an anonymous blogger.

7. I attack Darrel Aubertine because in 2004 he beat me so severely in an Assembly race that I will forever despise him.

Political IV has the right to hide his identity:

1. It protects his business.

2. It is easier for him as a politician to escape accountability.

3. It encourages all of us to comment without having to research and think before we write.

Politics101 -- "candidates who are behind in the polls ..."

Darrel has agreed to all the debates proposed by Renzi, so there goes that argument.

He's only balking on this, where he can't pack the room with partisan hacks and fears he'll say something stupid on video that will be used against him.
