Plagiarizing Is Not A New Idea To Aubertine (UPDATED)

pdf Files of the bills in question
Senator Little's bill here
Senator Aubertine's here

Plagiarizing legislation apparently is nothing new to Senator Aubertine. Here in this video from March 04, 2009 he ducks the question on why he plagiarized Senator Little's legislation. The circumstances surrounding Senator Griffo's UTV legislation this week and Senator Little's legislation last month are the same - all that was changed was the effective date - from "immediate" to "30 days."

This is outrageous and borders on Senator Aubertine being a phony! The MSM has an obligation to call him on this tactic.

This is the text posted with the YouTube video.
North Country State Sen. Darrel Aubertine got caught plagiarizing another Senator's legislation. Aubertine twice denied knowing that another Senator had introduced the exact same bill a month earlier than his bill. Aubertine altered just one sentence in the bill--changing the effective date if the bill were ever to become law--and claimed it for his own. See Senate bills 276 and 1677.

Wow. A politician who takes credit for someone else's work. Must be a slow news day. Got any dog bite stories?

wow, know your facts...this was Sen. Aubertine's bill in the Assembly before it came to the Senate at all.

Anonymous said...

Yes, know your facts -- it was a Little/Aubertine bill when he was in the Assembly. So how come he says on the video that he didn't know that Sen. Little had intro'd a bill?

And ... how come he misrepresents what his bill does?

Did he read it when he was in the Assembly, because he obviously hasn't done so as a Senator?

He is nothing but a thief and doesn't have an original idea in his head.

So Senator Aubertine introduced a bill in the Assembly using the standard State definition for ATV which legally should be and say the same in any introduced bill. Definations well tested. All ATV Bills use the same definitions, hardly plagiarism, and same format-just good legal sense. Darrel and all Senators or Assembly members consult the same writers and use the same writing style. If written properly you would expect similar language.
You don't know a lot about Albany and bill writing, do you, PIV.

Are you being fair here, PIV or are you still pissed because Darrel thumped your butt in several elections? Time to grow up, Scott.

12:56 pm. You have no idea what you are even talking about. He stole someone's legislation and put his name on it. It has nothing to do with definitions of anything or anything written in the Assembly. The damn bill is word for word.

Whatever the facts are, we need all the facts... posts here paint a totally different picture: if he had the exact same bill (in the Assembly) but with a different date, number, etc., but the contents were essentially the same, no big deal, except this point: why didn't Sen. Darrel say so right up front, like: "Hey, folks - I brought this bill/idea from the Assembly, and I didn't think it was important to point that out," or "Sh*t, I fricked up, oops, sorry."

But, actually this is a big deal if only from a PR / POL point of view, right?

BTW: Is the other Sen. making a big deal out the "plagiarizing" accusation, I wonder?

"The damn bill is word for word."

I would hope so since they were intended to do the same thing, Ivy.

Well Darrel votes down the same bill that he intrdocues later that day so now he gets the credit for it. He can tell all the ATVers he got this bill to pass. When the truth is if he really wants bipartisnship he would have voted yes on the exact same bills introduced by republicans. And he better check his facts. The aveage cost to farmers is around $18 per hundred. Not upwards of $30 as his says. No wonder his farm didnt last.

"No wonder his farm didnt last."

Little do you know. Darrel's farm is doing quite well and will probably outlast many small businesses in the area.

I watched a listened to the video three times... fancy dancing, but Sen. Darrel just didn't answer Sen. Little on her basic question about his provision (30-days) vs. hers (immediate) notification or why that part of the bill was the ONLY difference between hers and his.

Sen. Darrel, in my view, just could not answer her... yes, he seemed informed, but so is she.

He danced, she stayed focused.

I'm glad she is supporting the bill - and that's real ladylike of her ... not so for Sen. Darrel.

IMHO.

Dan,

Not once, but at least twice now. He is poaching other Senator's work, not supporting it on the floor in both cases and then introducing it himself.

Both cases he wrote the same language and changed the effective date from immediate to 30 days.

This is purely substandard behavior.

Come on, at least have your own ideas, or support some else that has a good one, but don't steal it.

This whole ATV issue is a waste of time.

Danny M. Francis (Eyepublius) said...

IV: I totally agree, but the bigger issue is honesty and owning up the facts as they were presented (against him and his case vis-a-vis Sen. Little's) ... I didn't detect that in Sen. Darrel on this issue... that's disturbing.

9:42 defends Aubertine doing this. Very sad. Partisanship at its best.

As long as people think like this, we are in big trouble.

Anyone who really knows Darrell from the time he was with the Town to when he road the fence then lied and back doored his way to chairman for the County legislator to Assembly to now to state senator should realize Darrell is for Darrell only. We elected him shame on us Dems and Repubs alike.

IV, what you're missing in this video is definite proof that Betty Little would now be Congresswoman-elect in the 20th CD if that obnoxious idiot Tedisco had stayed the hell out of the race. The foolish sheep who call themselves county GOP chairs in the 20th succumbed to pressure from the bigger idiots in Albany and chose the arrogant boob Dummy Tedisco as their candidate. He in turn, lost the race to some unknown liberal Democrat. Great work!!!...and more proof that the once noble New York Republican Party is a decaying corpse of its former self.

Isn't this a "Who cares?" type of story ?

dmf obviously has too much time on his hands. Maybe he could GITW Little for her opinion.

Tony Façade: I don't have too much time on hands, not at all. It's an insult for you to presuppose you know about me and/or my time allotment.

I have an ample amount of time to do the things I like to do that I didn't have a lot of time to do while I worked hard and loyally for 44 years serving the public, thank you.

But, thanks for playing "Got ya'..." — try again later.

Danny how come people never vote for u? U are all over the issues. Haha.

Why don't you take on Darrel, Dan? If you do,though you best take your campaign to another forum. A PIV and Scott Gray endorsement is the kiss of death.

Anon 1:54: A lot of people have voted for me, trouble is NOT enough of them to win.

I love politics and want to serve and try and make the system work - that has always been my main goal.

The running ain't so bad - the losing is!

Like coming in third in a two-man race - ouch ... that's pretty bad.And for Anon 6:37: "Take on Darrel?" Are you nuts - which party? The nitwit party?

Even thinking about that sends the DEMS to their gun lockers, and for the GOP - they wouldn't touch me with a 10-foot ballot.

Or getting beat 2 to 1 by Darrel in a Republican district. Ouch!

If you think Darrel is a retard and moron where does that leave the guy he beat.

If you think winning an election is a measure of intelligence you are mistaken.

Danny, Dems don't have gun lockers, their wives won't let them have them.

I have a problem with Darrel plagiarizing. The problem is Darrel wined about the same thing during his last campaign. He made the statement at a debate that his name was taking off the bill and gave the impression he was being abused by the majority republicans. Double standards and hypocritical of Darrel to do the same thing he complained about.
Thanks
