Here Comes The Pushback

This was expected.

The audio should be:

" I am a state worker, I CARE for the elderly. So you jerks in the private sector better pony up the bucks and pay for this crisis yourselves.

We're not gonna help you, but you better save my job, and my 3% raise."

It's not the people that get 3% raises that are the problem. The issue is the fat on top of it all. We see the same thing locally with that JCC decision. We need that new VP like we need a new landfill in downtown watertown. These political decisions are central to the problem. No one seems to have the will to stop it. So instead of the teachers union, or the administrators, we got after the guy sweeping the floors at night.

I don't think the two are mutually exclusive- there are way too many chiefs in the government getting fat at the public's expense, but collectively, so are the unionized workers. For years, public employees have been given "cost of living" raises that have been 2 or 3 times the rate of inflation.

Every level of government can be trimmed.

With the democrats controlling both the senate and assembly NNY hold on! NNY is not the industrial epicenter of New York. Most of our work force is service oriented. Government jobs, schools, and hospitals are our major employers and guess what, that’s where the governor wants to cut. We will be the brunt of his cuts with teachers, nurse’s aids, nurses, counselors and correction officers loosing their jobs with no alternative options. We need to fight tooth and nail for every job in NNY.
Poly Infomation.

The raises for Pef and Csea have not been higher then cost of living. They've also lost health benefits. Teacher's have done better, with increases higher than that the cost of living and health costs/co-pays more than keeping pace. These contracts are not all the same. YOu have to read 'em.

But that doesnt' change the premise posted. There are lots of cuts that could be made. Unfortunately, they won't be made.
