No So Frugal Governor

Frugal is a word the only applies to State agencies. The Albany Times Union is reporting that OGS purchased a 10x15 custom stitched rug for the Governor's mansion for the price of $21,000 and of course it was purchased from a New York City firm who contributed $8,000 to the Spitzer/Paterson campaign in 2006.

The rug was ordered the same week the second round of cuts to State agencies was ordered.

Read the story- Purchase of Turkish carpet take taxpayers for a ride?  here.

I don't support this kind of waste either, PIV. Sometimes I think this big government ship just has its own momentum. It takes a bit to stop it. He, the Gov, should be called on this, but he still should be supported in his efforts. The people who want to go on, business as usual, are sometimes behind this stuff and bring it out to encourage gridlock.

Anon. is right. I am tired of the status quo elite saying that state government's new leadership is tone-deaf to the real concerns of New Yorkers.

Besides, the rug looks really good in the pool house overlooking the mini-golf course that Rocky had installed here at the mansion.

Love, Dave.

i really doubt that paterson actually knew anything about this rug, picked it out, or personally approved it. i think we all know by watching how skelos acted, that paterson has had more than a little difficulty getting the rest of government on board with cutting costs, and thats how tihs purchase happened.

So, Skelos ordered the rug? That's a story!
