Cantwell - Who's Who

Bobby Cantwell, candidate for the 118th Assembly could easily fall into the "out of touch" trap with a new ad, oops sorry, fundraiser resembling the lifestyles of the rich and famous.

August 19th the Cantwell campaign will have a fundraiser at the home of Ted and Mary Mascott in Clayton who recently held an auction on their estate. This is following a fundraiser held recently at the Black River Valley Club in Watertown.

The list of sponsors include a who's who of the river community and specifically mentions "we cross party lines; we include summer and year-round residents."

$100 per person if you are interested in attending.

A small nugget of a suggestion for Mr. Cantwell, it is the voters from places like the northside in the City of Watertown who will put you in office or not, maybe you should hold an event to meet everyday working folks at the Northside Improvement League or some other place accessible to the average voter.

Isn't there a difference between events specifically designated as fundraisers and those designated as open 'meet-and-greets' or town hall meetings?

What's the real beef with this event? I'd expect whining like this from DD!

Re last paragraph of IV's statement - I absolutely agree.
Mr.Cantwell has been told this several times, but he's not listening or just doesn't believe it will affect his campaign.
Ms. Russell isn't doing anything and already winning because he is upsetting people with his uptown attitude. The river gathering is going to hurt more because DD and others will make sure it does. The everyday people/voters can't afford $100 and have never stepped foot in the Black River Valley Club. They are still good voters though when reached out to.

Why doesn't he just get a fat check from the teachers' union? It seems like they have already purchased his opinion. Why not pay for what they obviously control. Or better yet, call his campaign an educational program. That way the taxpayers will pay for it. As for Jenne. It's time to tell us how you stand on the proposed 4% cap on school property tax increases. C'mon Jenne. Talk Jenne. Grinnin' with Hill just isn't enough to earn our votes. Not mine anyway.

they are both losers so what does that say about north country people. too bad darrell had to go and get elected to the senate. By him doing so only made the north country weaker as we went from a win win situation to a lose lose situation. What we need until such time that albany is cleaned up is a democrat in the assembly and a republican in the senate. that way the north country can get its fair share of the pork barrel

I had a chance to meet and speak to Mr. Cantwell yesterday, and I am just an average "working folk."

So go figure...

I'm an average voter, and a river resident. I would like to visit with Cantwell FREE. I want to hear him speak, but not for $100.00. I think I'll go lay on my dock.

Bobbi Cantwell has been very accessible to the public. I have spoken with him at several public/free events and he has been availible to all who want to talk to him. Fund raising is part of the game to get elected, so this dinner is not out of the ordinary. If you havnt talked to him yet, you need to get out to some public events. I doubt he has time to stop at your house and say hi.

Good advice for Mr. Cantwell - I know that he is planning several meet and greets in the Watertown area and has been spending a lot of time in St. Lawrence Co. - Expect to see him around Jefferson County a lot in August and September!

He'd better have taken taken some time to study the school tax issue. His grasp of that issue in earlier interviews was disgraceful. I know he has teachers in the family, but he has to get off his high horse and realize the people can't take the rate of school spending increases we've seen of late. The teaher unions cry about how it's "for the children". It's really for then. The children suffer the most.IT has to be brought back into balance.
