Circuit Breaker Plan: Do Not Accept Political Rhetoric, Call An Expert.

Jefferson County Real Property Tax Services 785-3074
Oswego County Real Property Tax Services 349-8315
St. Lawrence County Real Property Services 379-2272
City of Watertown Assessor 785-7760

This issue has been covered to the point of ad nauseum, and no matter how the candidates who support this plan present it, the simple fact is that it does not work for Northern New York. The Senate candidates are back to debating the issue since the rebate checks have just been received. Aubertine is looking to take political advantage of people receiving the rebate check while his plan, if passed, would eliminate the check.

Unless the circuit breaker plan Darrel Aubertine is referring to in the paper is vastly different than the one he supported early this year that did not pass, he is wrong in his example cited in the paper.

He cites a family with an income of $50,000 that is paying $2,500 in taxes will receive $375 on its tax refund or tax credit.

The Assembly places a lower 5% of income paid in property taxes as a threshold while the Senate plan, supported by Aubertine but failed, had a threshold of 6%. And, both versions would only give you a 25% credit or refund on the amount paid over that 5 or 6%, while the Senate version eliminated the STAR rebate for middle class folks.

Again, Aubertine can cite downstate all he wants, but the program does not work for Northern New York residents.

Call the experst your local Real Property Tax department at your county or city to inquire specifically about your personal situation they will be able to assist you through the process and you will know whether it works or does not work. Do not accept the politicians rhetoric on this issue find an expert.

So, PIV, you are saying that if I call any of those numbers the person on the phone and say "PIV asked me to call", they will agree that "Aubertine is looking to take political advantage of people receiving the rebate check while his plan, if passed, would eliminate the check." ?

First you tell us here to ask an expert. Then you give us more political rhetoric.

Maybe Darrel can use his rebate check to pay back the money.

Thanks for bringing that issue up again. Let me remind you that you have the same problem with Dave Renzi who has yet to settle with the Attorney General about his illegal participation in the double dipping scam against members of the New York State Retirement system.

Maybe David Renzi, too, could apply his rebate to payback if he qualified for one. Now, if as a lawyer he did qualify, I would wonder if the program is necessary for all and perhaps helping the wrong people.

Does Dave Renzi want to keep a program that is sending thousand dollar checks to Long island while we get a much smaller rebate? Oh, wait, Dave's campaign is being funded by Long Islanders.

Issues like this are, by design, complex and confusing... by both sides, who are the only ones able to 'splain it to stay or get into office...

Deep down inside they don't know, either, of if they know, they don't care - that's pretty clear - both sides to be fair.

Vote getting - power playing and the #1 weapon of choice: THE TAX CODE.

rwiley can dissemble, distort and deflect all he likes, but we want to know: Did Darrel pay back the money?

Darrels sister had to pay it back and then he reimbursed her.

Obviously Darrel took Dave Renzi's advice and cashed the star rebate and paid back his sisters pay.

Thanks Dave.

Dave complains about Darrel cowtowing to the downstaters. But the Star program he favors gives westchester county and long islanders much bigger checks than we get. Whats up with that Dave? Dave claims that we cant afford our leadership in the senate to be from downstate, where is Majority Leader Skelos from? Oh thats right Long Island. As a previous commenter wrote, Daves top five biggest contributors to his campaign are from NYC. Darrels #1 contributor is from Waddington. Shall I go on? Ok I will, Dave says we are in this mess because of Darrel and the downstate Democrats, yet his downstate republican friends have been in control of the senate for 3 decades. Dave by no means whatsoever represents what we need, HE represents the status quo.

I did it. I hired my sister.
I did it. I made HER pay it back.
How do you keep screwing up Darrel. Over and Over and blaming everyone else.

I didn't mind paying it back, really.

You see, I really wanted to work for free.

rwiley is on this blog round the clock, is he on Darrell's campaign payroll?

Thanks Dave for endorsing the STAR program that pays Long Islanders and Westchester County Residents 3 and 4 times what it pays us. Thanks again Dave for criticizing Aubertines plan that would increase our STAR checks. Dave Renzi standing up for us! You are kidding right?

Let's compare the two sources that we each link to.

The link I gave was a link to an official position released by the Attorney General about their investigation of the few other lawyers in New York State who were pulling the same scam as David Renzi and his partners.

The link you gave was an opinion from someone at a newspaper that has a known history of endorsing Republican candidates. The opinion was based on several fabrications which are contrary to
the findings, thus far, of the Attorney General.

It is highly unlikely that David Renzi will go into a proceeding defending his position with the AG using that article from the opinion page of the WDT.
